Some of you might recall that our 12 yr old cocker spaniel, Lady, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a few months ago. She had improved on the meds, but then in the past couple weeks she got worse. They put her on the max. dosage of Lasix over a week ago and she still worsened. I was worried every day that I'd get home and find that she passed on alone...this morning we went to the vet and xrays confirmed her lungs were filled with liquid despite the high dose of medication. We made the decision to euthanize her. Our vet, whom we love, felt it was a humane decision at this point...but a really really tough one.
She was my MIL's dog until 2 yrs ago when she moved and couldn't take her...we took her in at that point. Our baby, Winnie the bulldog, was not happy about it and it took a lot of time and energy to have a somewhat peaceful household, but Lady was a very sweet dog, didn't bother anyone...she was happy to nap, watch the cats and get a pat on the head.
A little prayer for Lady would be so appreciated. It's tough to stop crying.
