I am not one who deals well with change. Moving, job changes, changing banks, anything like that freaks me out. I posted about being too busy to exercise yesterday and typing out how busy I am made me see how busy I actually am. I was checking out the job postings at work, I love my place of employment but not so much the position, I was kind of transfered over when my boss was laid off. I really do love the co., I took a pay cut and demotion to get my foot in the door. Anyway, I noticed a new posting for an HR coordinator. HR is my field, well I was an office manager so I can do admin or HR. However, the position is part-time meaning 30 instead of 40 hours. I know that would probably mean a pay cut but that means I would be able to have more time and also be able to pick up my little one from school. I emailed the HR person and asked her how benefits work when you go from full time to part time. Also if the hourly pay range would be the same so I can see really how much of a cut we are talking. I could probably make up the difference with my home parties but i don't would make sure we can swing it financially without it just to be safe.

Anyone know how benefits work if you go from FT to PT within the same company?

I think it totally depends on the company.

As mentioned, it totally depends upon the company. But this is probably the most common: somebody working 30-hour week would get the same categories of benefits as a full time employee, but less of them. So if you get subsidized health insurance today, you would still get it, but with a smaller subsidy and more out-of-pocket expense. If you get paid vacations today, you'd still get paid vacation, but only based on 30 hours of pay per vacation week, not 40. That sort of thing.
