I downloaded a wonderful little free application for my iTouch called "Lose It". It is great for people that are counting calories, trying to lose weight or want to keep up with what they eat. It is currently in the "Free Apps" section on iTunes but I'm not sure how long it will stay free.
Once on your iTouch (might be available for the iPhone too, not sure), what you do is input your personal info like gender, age, height, & weight. Input what your target weight is and how much you'd like to lose each week (or maintain). It then calculate how many calories you can consume to either lose weight or maintain your current weight. It has a database with foods, both supermarket brand names and restaurant foods, where you pick what you've eaten for your meals and snacks and it keeps a running tally on your caloric intake. You can also input any excercise you do. It reminds me of the Wii Fit combined with a WW program only you can't really stand on it and it won't cost $29.95 a month. You can also input your own foods and even recipes.
I'm using it to make myself accountable for my snacking. If I have to answer to my iTouch than I might not reach for that extra snack bar.
Just thought I'd share.
