Ok so it is our family's first trip (ds 5 and dd 3) to Disneyland. We will be at the resort from April 22 to the 24th with park hopper passes. We are stayng at the Candy Cane Inn. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on to help plan this trip for us.

Mostly I am concerned about the private event on the 22nd. Should I try to get my two kiddos up to be at the park before 6:30? How is this going to effect crowds at DCA? The 22nd is our only day to be able to see the Electrical Parade, Block Party Bash and Aladdin. We also have the princess lunch at 1130 that day. What would be the best plan to be able to see those three things and do the princess lunch? When should I use my EE Monday or Tuesday?

Yes, I am loaded with questions as only a newbie would be:)

If your kids are normally up early or are awake and excited on Sunday morning I would try to go as early as possible. I dont know that I could wake my kids up, have them dressed and fed and to the park before 6:30 am- thats pretty early! But, go as early as you can. Then I would head over to DCA when it opens at 10. I would grab a fast pass for soarin' when you get there. Then I would head over to bugs land and do what you can there before your lunch at Ariels. You can probably do most of that area in that length of time. After lunch I would hit the 1:55 Aladdin show. You might even have time to ride Monsters before you go to Aladdin, depending on the lines and how long it takes you at lunch. After Aladdin I would use your Soarin fast pass, and see what else you can get done before block party. I expect the park will get very busy when DL closes at 4. You'll want to find a spots for the parades early.

Forgot to address EE. If you go early on Sunday and end up staying late (DCA closes at 11) I would do EE on Tuesday. After that long of a day on Sunday you'll need to sleep in! If you end up heading back early and getting a good nights sleep, then you could try for Monday. Normally I recomend doing EE early in the trip because you'll just be more tired as the trip goes on, but I think you'll need the rest after Sunday!

Thank you so much for your advice.

You are very right about wanting a down day after Sunday! I think we will certainly use the EE day on Tuesday. Its funny how someone else can point out the blanks in your logic:)

I am thinking we might be up early on Sunday. Hubby mentioned that the kiddos might not yet be on CA time, so we are going to try to make the 6:30 opening of Disneyland.

hlbtimes2 is dead on. Three things are must see at the CA Park, Alladdin, Soarin', and the Electric Light Parade. Sunday is already normally a busy day abd CA will likely be extra crowded for the parade when DL closes early. 5 and 3 are pretty young for a 6:30 start of a day that will be very late if you watch the Electric Light Parade in very crowded conditions.
