Very nervous about OKW!

Doug~ Why OKW contracts for you? It seems like most are having little luck there right now! Do you try to keep all you UY the same? I am looking at BTL but there are very few with our UY? By the way I like you retirement plan!!

What I look for is lowest entry price possible for a WDW resort. This usually works out to be OKW. I also like OKW, so it works out to be a win-win. When I lost 3 contracts at OKW in a row to ROFR I then focused on SSR (good price and MF) and BWV (which I want for the location). Once I heard of some OKW contracts passing, I made a couple of more offers for OKW contracts and have one at ROFR now, with a offers on 2 others.

I currently own 3 contracts (OKW & SSR) all with Dec UY. The contracts I have at ROFR are for Dec, Dec and Mar. I can't remember what the UY are for the other offers I working on, but there was no requirement to have all the same UY.

I was considering a small add-on and so phoned my guide to ask about Disney prices of a) OKW and b) BWV for October UY.

She told me there would be no trouble supplying BWV but that OKW would be more of a problem and I would have to go on a waitlist! I was really surprised and so came to look at this thread - sounds like Disney do have more demand for OKW than I expected.

Submitted for review 4/10, passed 5/15. Was surprised when our agent told us that two other OKW contracts (one at $55pp and one at $57pp) were bought back by Disney. Guess the dart monkey missed us!

This is why I think the selling price is not the biggest factor in whether Disney exercises ROFR..... I believe people are on wait lists for certain Use Years , and if Disney needs your contract they keep it.
If they have nobody waiting for it.... your ROFR will go through.

when i bought OKW in 1993 the price was 56 dollars a point with 7 years of free park passes.

I was39 at the time.now 61. the thing to remember is even if 2042 how many years can you use it. you should plan on just usuing yourself. my wife and i love it but our children couldn't care less.

on the other hand i have used our okw points to stay at most of the vacation club resorts and top hotels on disney propery however several years ago we just started to stayonly okw again. i is the best vacation club property and its rooms the best.

I agree with you. We definitely don't care if our contract goes beyond 2042, so we did not extend it when it was offered. We don't intend to be around then anyway (we're over 65 now), but for those who buy now, assuming you are in your 30's and buying an OKW 2042 contract, you still have 30 more years to use it. Now if you're in your 20's the extended contract is probably the way to go.

FYI, our kids don't want the burden of the maintenance, so once we no longer wish to use it, we'll either sell or give it back to Disney. They can extend it then!

And my contract was at that $55 or $57 (was lower), so I hope that monkey throwing dart is going to miss me as well.
