Very Merry Xmas Party worth it?

i've gone to MVMCP twice now and yes in my opinion its a must do if we are there during that time of year and are there on one of the party nights.
my sister and i are considering a quick christmas season trip this year and we'd definitely go to MVMCP if we do end up going on a trip.

We did not enjoy it. We found it to be extremely crowded and were unable to get viewing spots for the first parade and fireworks. Never saw snow on Main St. Beware, character lined are an hour+ It was the most unmagical Disney experience we've had (5 trips in 3 years). Peter Pan was an hour wait and we waited 20min for small world. The advertised lower crowds we did not find to be true. We went Nov 13 2014 and it was not sold out but it was packed with rude people who felt entitled to get their money's worth at the cost of yelling at people, shoving, standing in front of kids. I really wanted to love it but we will not be going to any more special events such as the Xmas party!
That's how it was for us at MNSSHP last year. I love it but the people 'grown ups' were pushing little kids out of the way to get closer to parade...it was an eye opener.

We do have a good time and we find ourselves buying tickets each year. So I guess to us it's worth it. We were just shocked how crowded it really gets. We wanted to do MVMCP this year but the stars did not align

I enjoyed it.
I think it is worth the money,we have been to 26 and enjoyed everyone. We love the parade and fire works plus seeing everyone decked out.It just lifts our holiday spirit no matter if we go in with a frown we come come out with a smile. Danny

I did both MVMCP and MNSSHP last year and much preferred the Halloween party, even though I am a HUGE Christmas person. The Halloween party was not crowded and the theming seemed better than Christmas. We went to the Christmas party I think on December 14-ish and it was much, much more crowded than it had been at Halloween. That said, I'm glad I did it once.

We've done both the Halloween Party and Christmas Party. Both are great. What we've found that works for us is we'll go to a non-resort breakfast (like Ohana), then come back to the hotel and lounge around the pool for most of the day. Since you can get into MK at 4 pm with your Christmas party ticket (you will not have FP+ rights though) you'll still get plenty of time in MK & don't have to waste a park day and may be able to get on a ride early before the Xmas party starts. Definitely a must try at least once I'd say.

The Christmas Parade alone makes it worth our while. It is the best thing Disney has done since SpectroMagic to me. Characters upon character upon characters all decked out for the season. Also snow on Main Street kicks up the magic so much.

You can make FP+, but only from 4-7pm. I am going to the MVMCP for the first time this year, but I went to MNSSHP last year and made my 3 FP from 4-7. I plan on doing that for MVMCP this year.

It is the only reason we are going there this November instead of Universal. Snow on Main St, great parade (and I hate parades, including all others at Disney) and the fireworks/castle projection show. Add meeting all Seven Dwarves and Scrooge McDuck to the mix along with short waits for rides and you have a truly magical Disney experience.

Here is my tip - don't listen to the experts about which parade to watch - if you are planning on staying until they kick you out (which we do), then see the 1st parade, watch the fireworks and then ride until they cut the power. Most people who see the 1st parade go home after the fireworks, and those who don't see the 1st parade go to the second one. That means that every ride is pretty much a walk on after fireworks. My son and I rode BTMR 8 times in a row and they never made us get off and get back in line. Just sat in the same seat and rode it over and over again. Now the downside is that by that time at night that time of year, it is too cold to ride Splash Mountain, but there is zero wait for that - empty boats keep coming down the hill all night. And Cosmic Rays stays open after the rides close, so you can grab a snack before they shoe you out of the park. The only thing that holds you back is the lack of park mobility during the 2nd parade.

IMO, it depends on what you are doing with that day and what your expectations are for the party. We took a Universal trip once during December. The party was the perfect way to get a "taste" of Disney while in Orlando without spending a whole day there. We ended up with 8 hours in Magic Kingdom for less than the cost of a 1 day ticket, and we got all the hot chocolate and cookies we wanted. That was a win in my book.

I don't think it would be a must do if we were on a Disney-only trip though.

I love MVMCP but it's not a great value for many. If you don't have a park ticket for the day, going from 4 pm to midnight with low crowds is a decent value. But, it you already have park tickets or you have young kids who can't stay up until close, then it's not a good deal.

Last December, it was a real value for us. We did not have a park ticket for the day. Then, it rained and they cancelled the 2nd parade and all other shows. Our disappointment turned to joy when they gave us a pass to come back to the party two days later. So we got 2 for the price of one!

We've never had a problem getting a great spot for the parade in Frontierland. It's unfortunate you didn't have a good time. I know it must be frustrating after spending the extra money on party tickets. But just like so many things at Disney some things are not for everyone. At least at the World there's always something else to do!

For us, having young children was the deciding factor. We took our girls when they were 4 and 2. It just didn't work for us to have them out until midnight. Now they are 11 and 13 but the cost is just too prohibitive. I think it would be a good deal if you weren't going to the Magic kingdom any other days. But we will have an 8 day park ticket. Spending another $350 to be in the park from 7-12 just doesn't make sense to me. I could add another entire night of hotel and park passes for that money.

You made a very good point to me, we rarely make it past 9pm, young kids. is 350-380 worth 2 hrs and Boo To You Parade, I don't think it is this year. I did book Wishes Dessert Party too but may cancel that with the small kids.

We went in 2009 and 2013. We skipped 2011 because I just didn't feel like it was worth it. We returned in '13 b/c I wanted to see if Disney could redeem itself with me. The biggest issues we had both times were the crowds. It was MUCH busier for the party than it was during the day on the days we went. Unfortunately, we also encountered a LOT of ppl who felt that they were 'entitled' in some way more so than anyone else in the park who also paid good money for the experience. The hot chocolate was good; cookies are good; snow (IF you are able to be on Main Street) is good...but honestly, the Osborne Lights in HS has better snow and it's a much more relaxed and enjoyable Christmassy environment. For my family, we will not do it again; however, I am glad that we did it those two times. From what ppl have posted here, it's not all bad....but....it's also not all good. If you decide to do this, hopefully your experience will be Disney magical!

We're doing The Christmas party for the first time ever this year! We're extremely excited. Last time we were at WDW we got soaked at Mickey's Not so Scary Party, so we're hoping at least there won't be any rain this time :P

can decide if the MVMCP is worth it for you and your family.

This is what I did with all of my favorite rides last year! My sister was 5 1/2 months pregnant at the time so her and her DH ended up leaving the party a little early (after the fireworks) because her ankles were so swollen. So I stuck around until the park closed, I was like a little kid- walking on and off of my favorite rides over and over again... Space Mt, Splash - it was actually a nice night in the 60's so it wasn't too bad, BTMRR, HM, PeopleMover, Pirates. I had a blast! I guess so many people had left before the end of the party (it wasn't a sold out party anyway), the park was closing and I slowly made my way to Main Street to exit and a bus pulled right up and I was on my way. It was the most enjoyable night of the trip. Low crowds makes it worth it alone. I love the parade- we do the 1st parade. The hot cocoa and cookies and snow on main street!

Hi all. Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party a "must do" in your book? The prices seem quite high, especially if we are already paying to be in the Magic Kingdom that day.
Thanks in advance for your feedback,
Carrie

My fiance and I went last year and absolutely LOVED it. We got photos with the 7 Dwarves and the the Pooh Gang with their winter scarves!! They made for great Christmas card photos. The wait times for almost all of the rides were minimal. All the night time entertainment was AMAZING. I would definitely go again, and we will definitely take our future children.

I personally would not go to MK during the day AND do the party at night....with the party tickets you can get into MK at 4pm. You can also do 3 FP+ from 4-7pm. Last year we went to Epcot from park open til about 2:30 or so (it was F&W and we want to squeeze in some more treats). Then we went back to the resort to change, and then headed over to MK to arrive by 4pm. I know that other people have used the daytime before the party as a rest day or even time to go to DTD, etc.

Bottom line, I would do it!!
