We are wanting to go to Disney at the beginning of April 2011, but we are planning on going using the money my DH is going to get from profit sharing on March 25th.

Has anyone gone to Disney using a Magic Your Way package that you bought only about a week in advance?

I plan on buying the plane tickets in advance, but the trip we will pay for completely with the profit sharing.

Will this be possible do you think? Has anyone done this before?

I have never done it but it sound like fun.

That being said I wouldn't do it. If I did not have enough $$$ to cover the trip and I was depending on a situation like you are discribing it would be my impression that I did not have enough in savings as "back up / emergency fund" to take such a trip. If you have enough in your "emergeny fund" just plan the trip now and pay back your savings when the check comes.

It seems like if you are going to put out thousands of dollars for a trip you should have the $$ to spend. The situation you are discribing (and I may be wrong) sounds like you are living paycheck to paycheck at this time. If not, why not just pay for it now and pay yourself back. If you are going to buy airfare you are committing to going I assume.

In this economy that situation is just SCARY  to me. I can tell you from experience (my husband was unexpectedly unemployeed due to his place of employment going bankrupt) that a "emergency fund" is more important than a WDW vacation.

If that is not the case for you -yes I think you can book a MYW trip within a weeks time.

We aren't in the situation you are describing, this is just the way we want to do it.

Sorry my mistake. I was not trying to offend. Just giong on the information you provided.

You may want to consider the price before making such a choice - unless the $$$ is not an object. Depending on where you are staying you could save up to 35% off your room if you book by Dec. 31st. The first week of April is eligible for the special offer but it expires soon.

I would bet the same great price is not going to be availble a week out. It could cost you hundreds more the way you are discribing and you are talking about traveling during a peak spring break time (I know my kids are out of school 4/4-4/8) so the resort you want may be booked.

You can see the current specials it you go to the WDW website and click on special offers at the bottom of the page.

Also by booking early you are eligible to book your dining reservations 180+10 days out. That option will not be availble if you book so late. If you have your heart set on eating at certain places that may be an important consideration.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip no matter what you choose.

I would still call and get your advance dinning reservations. Have it all set you can always cancel. The only thing you may not get exactly the room or resort you want but if you have an open mind I think you will be fine.

Have a great trip. Remember you can book your dining reservations 6 months before your trip.

Get some maps and start planning have fun

I have not done it, but I think you will be fine. I agree with the previous post thought to still plan it all out! Make all your dining reservations, check schedules, etc. Would you maybe get a better deal booking early? Sure. But if you cant or dont want to then that is fine too. I agree that you may not get the room or resort you want, but I am sure you will find something suitable! I hope it all works out for you! :wizard:

For our last trip (January 2010), I booked the MYW package on a Sunday night and we flew into Disney on the following Tuesday. We booked our flights through Expedia.ca and the MYW package through the Disney website.

Of course, we did not get our luggage tags, but with 1-2 days of arriving, we received our discount coupons, etc in our room.

Overall, it was a good experience. PLUS I was able to see the weather ahead of time to know they were forecasting warm temps. Prior to that they were getting record cold temps (especially for the marathon weekend).

Oh, and we also made our ADR's on the Sunday night as well. WE managed to get O'hana, 50's Primetime, Sci-Fi Diner, Coral Reef, Nine Dragons....so we made out pretty good considering it was a last minute trip.
