VERY impressed with DDs new high school

Due to budget cuts, the school board decided to close DDs high school and bus the kids across town to a failing school. They had an award winning band and choir program and the test scores and graduation rates were both above 50%.

The school they want to send her has an under 50% number in both graduation rate and test scores and we have been told they are doing away with both the band and choir programs.

Because of this, we have been looking around at other schools to transfer to.

She has already been accepted at a private school, but we also applied to transfer to a neighboring public school.

We got a phone call last night around 6pm from the principle telling us she had been accepted and to expect a packet from the superintendent's office soon with more information!

Now if all her teachers could just transfer to her new school.... (we love most of her teachers and will miss them but they will be losing their jobs with the schools closing)
I was so impressed! I was expecting a form letter, not a personal call on a weekend! I think I may love our new school!

I hope it all works out even better than you might expect. I would give almost anything for my DD to be in a sweet spot for school.

50% Graduation rate

I would be getting her the heck out of dodge too, YIKES. I am glad you found a new school for her.

Thankfully our public high schools are very good. We have a 99% graduation rate and 94% of our graduates go on to a 4 year college, 2% go on to community college and 2% to military, leaving only about 2% that don't get any post secondary education (at least right out of high school).
