I usually go to WDW and have been noticing that over time the customer service has been getting worse (low and high seasons) So this past February we decided to take our first trip to Disneyland and were super impressed. Everyone was so nice and extremely helpful! The character interactions even felt more pleasant! Anyway, so yesterday I received a package in the mail from Disneyland's lost and found and it made my day! I wasn't thinking (tired and it was late) so I had my brand new hat on while riding Splash Mountain. I was prepared to hold on to it for the big drop but I didn't realize how different the ride was from wdw's and there were bunch of mini drops... Well I lost my hat on one of them and was a littl bummed. I just asked the girl working at the ride the possibilty of my hat being recovered an she said it was most likely gone forever but I can check in at City Hall and file a report. I didn't... but I did swing in the next day just to see if by some miracle they had it. No luck :( the lady was so so nice and when I told her I was told it was probably lost forever she said "no! we don't like to think like that!" and had me fill out a lost and found report. Going back to the package I received... It was a brand new hat! I thought that was extremely awesome of them and they really didn't need o do that. It made me supe happy an now I'm no longer bummed for spending 20 bucks on a cap I only got to wear for a day.

Sorry for the length of my post, but I just wanted to want to share that so if any of you had lost something, there is still hope you can get it or a replacement back! Also, I read that if your kid breaks a toy bought in the park they will replace it for free... Well my daughter broke her light up toy and they replaced it no problem!

I too found the customer service to be superior at DL - DH and I had a fantastic b-day adults only trip (first time) a couple of weeks ago. We had so much fun we want to go back next year! It seems at WDW it is more rushed. Or something? Not sure...

That is so cool they replaced the hat :goodvibes

Someone once stole DGDs balloon :scared1: a security CM overheard us grumbling and told us to go to CS, they would replace it :) we didn't take them up on it, but another time DGDs balloon came untied from the knot at the base of the balloon and floated off to space. Again a security CM saw what happened and this time we did go to CS they gave us a balloon replacement certificate. We got a new one :goodvibes

That was very nice of them.

DS got a replacement hat for one that was stolen, but it was 2 days later and only because he told his story to the right people, who got a Lead involved. The store CMs I asked in the hour or so after discovering that it was missing could not have cared less, nor did the lost/found people.

And on his 4th b'day trip, one of us (none of us has memory of who had it last, but we know it was heavy and he kept passing it to one of us) lost his brand new "build your own" lightsaber...er, well, one of us left it on a bench, and when we went back, it was gone...so...half losing, half stolen, and absolutely NO ONE cared about that one!

Count yourself very very lucky!

I have also found all the CM's so nice at DL! I was super impressed because I had heard so much bad about DL vs WDW and we enjoyed it so much more!

Never lost anything and hope to never lose anything. Their toys are junk though. DS6 got the buses (like matchbox cars) and the tires come right off the wheels. They were off within a minute. The monorail (small heavy $15) falls apart non stop. I decided on that over the $70 one due the quality. Those are probably the only disney toys we have ever purchased and they were both cheaply made.

I thought I would share our happy experience with customer service. We went down in oct 08 and our 3rd day there my youngest son started to cry on the walk in from harbor... Turns out he had a bee on him and tried to swat it, well it stung him. This had happened about 30min before the gates had opened for gerneral public. Since he has never been stung we were a little concerned, we went to the front of the line, explained what happened. They let us in and then let my wife and son on at the roped area since we didn't have magic morning passes.. I was very please how they handled it, and too boot we won dream fast passes right after it :)

Thank you so much for sharing your story. We are heading to DL for the first time since we became hooked on WDW. You have made me look forward to it! :goodvibes

I had a super great guy today at DL room reservations. He was on the phone with me going over all the different packages, costs and explaining everything. He even made suggestions for our trip. I was really impressed !

It does! Especially the characters there. We were at Goofy's Kitchen and I was so impressed by Chip because my husband dropped the autograph book AND pen  and Chip insisted he get it himself and took the time to pick them up and struggle to position it all to sign. The whole time I was thinking "if we were is Disney World, the characters would give us the cold shoulder then quickly move on." I know how hard it is for them to do that, so I really appreciated Chip's determination to do it himself and still seem happy with us! :) It wasn't only that though, ALL of the characters on our trip were fantastic!

I'm sorry to hear that you had such horrible experiences with the lost and found people :sad2: I do feel very very lucky though!

I'm so glad to hear that! :goodvibes I'm sure you guys will have a blast! I was extremely scared from what I was hearing and ended up having a nonstop great time when we got there. We definitely will be going back sometime in the future. Can't wait :yay:

Same here! WDW will always have more of a special place in my heart because I was married there, but besides that, our trip to DL tops the list of Disney trips. It seemed like I was a lot less stressed and more able to relax (I'm always the trip planner and it gets very stressful).
I hear you on the toys!

I enjoy reading everyone's experiences! It makes me feel good to hear about all the positive stories and adds to my good feelings towards DL! popcorn::

I'm sorry to hear about the bad experiences, but thank you for sharing. I'm sure the good still outweighs the bad though! (I hope)
