Very important computer question

I have used MSN messenger in the past. So 6 months ago I got a new email (still use my old mainly...this is just for a few contacts) and did messaging from Yahoo--something new for me and only had 2 or 3 people as contacts. No where close to the same name. Suddenly today I had a popup with him contacting me via Yahoo IM. Is there something where Yahoo and bellsouth or MSN would interact where he would know how to contact me via the new name?

Who is "him"? Did you ask him how he got your Yahoo IM screen name?

OOPS! Sorry I didn't explain well. This is someone I dated a year ago. I was happy to hear from him so didn't think about why he was on this IM. it just hit me as strange once I thought about it. I will ask him when I next talk to him but well let's just say there's a reason why he is an ex. I'm just curious for future reasons as in how can someone use 1 ID and then find someone a year later via another ID that was only set up 6 months prior.....KWIM?

Did you put your MSN e-mail address down as an alternate e-mail address for your Yahoo account? That's the only thing I can think of. Sometimes when you sign up for Yahoo messenger/AIM/etc. they use like a "contact importer" where you can type in your friends' email addresses and it will see if they have a messenger account. So maybe if you have your MSN down as an alternate for Yahoo, he could find you that way? I'm not sure though.
