Yesterday I went to B&Q with DH to buy some paint for our downstairs loo which is being renovated. DH went off to get some other stuff and I went to get the paint. Unfortunately as I lifted the paint container I wanted up off the shelf, the one underneath stuck to it, and then dropped - shattering on the floor and sending cream paint everywhere - I was covered in it up to my knees and you couldn't see my shoes at all, just little mounds of cream paint. I was mortified - there didn't seem to be any staff about in the paint areas, so I had to slosh over to the checkouts, leaving a little trail of cream footprints behind me! How embarrassing!
At this point DH is coming to look for me in the paint area and when he gets there he spots a shattered paint container on the floor with paint everywhere, and a trail of footprints leading off. When he got to the end of the shelving he saw the footprints leading to the checkout and me standing there at the end of the trail looking very sheepish! Naturally he thought it was hysterically funny
and proceeded to take photos on his mobile
I then had to cover my feet with carrier bags and head for the toilets to try and wash the paint off my poor shoes and jeans - and fortunately it was emulsion and it eventually came off and I was able to make a run for the car with sloshy shoes and soggy wet jeans. Fortunately we were in B&Q at 9am and it was very quiet, but I certainly created some unexpected entertainment for the shoppers and staff who were in there (though I doubt the poor chap who then had to clear up the mess was very impressed
)
I just can't see myself setting foot in B&Q for the next few weeks.......
