I have already prayed for the families that lost their loved ones and am still praying for the driver of the car as well as the OP who had to see the aftermath. Things like that stay with you, even the sound of crunching metal and people crying.
I was on my way down to Myrtle Beach in 2007 for a cheerleading competition. I was car pooling with 2 other mothers. There was a semi truck in front of us, we were both travelingin the left lane. A car came up on the right side of us and wanted to pull in infront of us, there was plently of room for her to do so but she got so close to the truck before she started merging over. We all saw it coming, she was too close to the truck, we even said out loud, "She's not going to try and pull in is she?" And with that she clipped his bumper and it sent her car into the most horrific spin and roll over I have ever seen, we slowed down, but this accident seem to go on forever infront of us, she rolled at least 5 times, her upper torso flew out of the car and we saw her smack her head on the pavement, she was wearing her seatbelt though and as the car rolled it kept pulling her back in. the car finally landed right side up in a ditch.
The eerie sound of silence encompassed us all, we stopped our vehicle and I ran back to the woman, the smell of gasoline and radiator fluid was strong, the hissing sound the car made was awful. She was unconscious but did wake up after about 10 minutes. They ended up having to air lift her do to her major head injuries.
One of the things I remember most was the driver of the semi, it had taken a while for him to get his truck stopped, but I could hear him crying and yelling as he ran back to the womans car, "Please tell me there were no babies in the car, please lord, no babies."
This has stayed with me and my daughter, we even went and talked to somebody about gettting pass witnessing such trauma. I feel so bad for anybody who has to witness or just comes across an accident let alone actually be involved in it.
