Very disappointed in Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride

I'm not really sure what is the 'cut off' for issues on the ride. I've seen pictures of people who have said they were able to ride....some were around 5'6 and weighed 300lbs or more. I was THRILLED that they posted pictures. It helped me figure out that I will indeed fit.

I have also seen that 6'5 basketball players can ride too....so exactly where the problem lies with certain shapes? I don't know.

Regarding the bolded part: Can you post those pictures here? Or do you have links to them?

I would also like to see those pictures if you could find them again! I am one of those that is definitely nervous about a 7DMT fit. I have both fat thighs and muscular quads and I cannot for the life of me figure out how I'd manage to stick them through a 13.5 inch space.

there were 2 HUGE threads on this issue about 1-2 months ago. People posted photos of themselves and said 'they rode'....it was REALLY helpful. Not sure if I can find it again.

I went looking and found this long thread. Seems to be some pictures in it, so maybe it'll be helpful.

Yep! there is another thread somewhere with a woman (a mom) who posted a picture of herself (not in the seat, just standing) and she was a size 26 maybe 28....she said she fit....so with that I stopped worrying about it.

I think the issue is a bit overblown as it seems 99% of people can ride from what I've seen.

FWIW, I am a size 24 and I carry my weight in my legs. I fit, in the sense that the bar was able to come down, but man oh man, did it hurt! It's by far the smallest amusement park ride seat I've ever been in. It makes airplane seats seems spacious and accommodating.

I wish I could have stretched my legs through the bar and crossed them at the ankles or something, but there wasn't even room for that. And I'm short.

I have yet to ride the 7DMT and as my previous post says, I'm not too sure I'll fit. So the photo claims the bar is 13.5" wide. I went around my household looking for items that might simulate a bar that wraps around the legs that was roughly the same size. I came up with 2 decent candidates. One was a folding step stool that has curved metal bars that are 15" wide. The other one was a pub chair/stool that was exactly 13.5" right below the seat. the 15" step easily fit over my legs, the 13.5 bar stool fit, but it was a tight uncomfortable squeeze, but it still fit.

I think I will still give the ride a go. I now know that my legs have a chance of fitting and I think that the bar looks like its padded a bit so it should be a little more forgiving that a hard wood chair.

Went on the ride today ! IMO the ride is very fast! Blink your eyes and it's over. What a joke LOL !!'nnn

It may help to cross the lower part of your legs. There are a few older coasters that I've ridden where crossing my legs and perhaps tucking them back a bit has helped in similar situations.

That's what my husband does on several rides to make himself fit due to height though, not width. You can't bend anwhere from hip to knee to fit so he crosses his lower legs so the upper legs can go in at an angle - resulting in more room. But, with the way the constraint is, that's probably not going to help his with height at all on this one. It could help someone with width though.

Definitely do NOT put bags beneath your legs. I would try to put them under a child's legs (if they let you, they wouldn't let me one of the times I rode because my child was then unable to bend her knees at a 90 degree angle???). If you can't do that, put them on top of the bar....they really won't go anywhere, just hold with one hand or put a leg through a strap, etc. I don't think I could have ridden it with a bag under me, but I knew from the DIS that I shouldn't attempt that.

I'll likely need my arm around my youngest child if I can get him to ride this. Is the bag under my legs really an issue if I'm a small adult - like size 14 in girls clothing? My 11 year old is bigger than me.

For those interested in reading about how bigger people are finding the 7DMT experience, I recommend checking out The Everything Pooh Sized Thread where it's discussed from time to time beginning in the latter pages (the link takes you to page 94).

Even if that percentage is correct, and I doubt it is, I can assure you it's NOT "overblown" to those who don't make it. It can be devastating and utterly ruin a vacation emotionally. And when, in our situation, there's a pituitary tumor causing the excess weight and not letting it come off, it's not a situation where someone from the outside can tell you there's an easy solution. (like losing weight has EVER been something "easy")
