Very Disappointed in LeCellier

Had a late lunch today and boy we were disappointed. The prices are rather high for such a small portion and they weren't considerate of DH's dietary needs. Funny thing is at the very bottom of the menu it says you can discuss your needs, however, they won't make any substitutions...DH just wanted asparagus instead of the potatoes which were the same price. Our waitress was also rather rude when she commented that "she didn't make the rules around here." She could at least have made the effort and spoke to someone.

It's so disappointing since I've never had a problem with a Disney restaurant before. Then at the end of our meal DH got a dessert with his meal and she forgot to bring it!

It's too bad you had a bad experience. We just returned from our first trip to WDW and we had an excellent experience at LeCellier. All the restaurants we ate at were really good but then again places can have off days.

Well our waitress wasn't the friendliest and that can make all the difference in the world!!! The girls up in front were great and even helped me make a couple of other dining reservations but I think our waitress could have tried for us as far as DH was concerned...he wasn't asking for much really. Because she wouldn't make the change DH couldn't even get what he wanted.

Thanks for sharing, I'm back and forth if I should add LeCellier in our next trip...we never eaten there but I love reading people reviews...good or bad.

The food was good, however, very pricey. $28.99 for a 5 oz. filet mignon sitting on top of approx. a cup and a half of risotto? I'm going to just say...thank goodness for the bread!!

Too bad your experience wasn't great. Both times I've ate the Le Cellier I was really happy. I thought the service was pretty good too. My only complaint is it's so cramped in there.

OT: My wife loves the s'more desert. The cheese soup is a little overrated.

They didn't have a s'mores dessert. Are you thinking of 50's PrimeTime Cafe? They have that.

Yes, it is ashame we did not have a kind waitress. They can make all the difference in your dining experience.

No..DH wanted the NY Strip...he ended up ordering from the prix fixed though.

that may be why there was no substitution. From what i have read, on the prix fixed it is as is, with no substitutions allowed

Sorry it wasn't a great experience, and at least you had bread :)

That is so strange that they wouldnt let your husband substitute. The only time I know that they definitely will not is if you get the special menu item that includes appy, entree and dessert. I cannot remember what it is called but it specifically says NO SUBSTITUTIONS. Sorry you did not have a good experience. I am looking forward to eating here next week and am looking forward to the filet mignon. I prefer small portions especially on hot days. :)

Yeah...I'm really shocked for a Disney restaurant too, especially since at the bottom of the menu it says it right there to discuss any special dietary requirements and they will suit your needs!:confused3 I hope you will have a better experience.

No..DH originally wanted the $30.99 NY Strip...he ended up ordering from the prix fixed since they wouldn't substitute asparagus for potatoes. Odd thing is they are both the same price if you ordered them separately as a side so what was the big deal?:confused3

In 10 years we have never had poor service or bad meal at Canada.
When ever I have any problem, I ask to please speak with a manager.
I'm calm and polite, however want what is right !
99% of the time Disney will make you happy !
Sorry to hear of your problem !

I tried to do that asparagus for potatoes thing too! My waitress let us in on the secret of what you COULD substitute, but it wasn't much at all......

and I DO LOVE the smores dessert!!

We had HORRIBLE service at LeCellier, and the food wasn't that good, so we won't go back.

That's disappointing they wouldn't make a substitution - sounds like the waitress was like ours and simply didn't care. Too bad. =(

Oh, that's too bad you didn't enjoy it. Give it another try! It's one of our favorites.

We were just there this past Friday for lunch. We had a reservation for 11:30. Does everyone else know that to officially open they sing Oh Canada? It was so cool. The entire wait staff came out front, sang Oh Canada (some of them on key, lol), one of them yelled "let's play hockey" :rotfl: and the restaurant officially opened.

We had a wonder server, Brenndan? Crap, I don't think that's how you spell his name, but he was great. I absolutely loved the cheese soup and pretzel bread. Wow, what a wonderful combination. He came back and saw how much we were loving it (I guess all the hmmm, yum, noises clued him in) and came back with an official recipe card for cheese soup. Signed by him and everything, so I need to find it and figure out how to spell his name. Nice and so very unexpected..

Before we left, he came out with a huge aluminum "purse" for us filled with more breadsticks to take with us. Wow.

So we were super happy with the service and the food.

I think your waiter/waitress is key to have a great dining experience. Ours wasn't that great from the get go and the minute she said to us "I don't make the rules around here" I was already turned off. I also think for the price paid our steaks could have been a little bigger. Yes, the pretzel bread was fantastic and thank goodness for them since the meal wasn't large. I just felt bad for DH because he ended up with the steak salad since they wouldn't substitute a veggie for a potatoe:confused3

I was under the impression for posts here that they would substitute sides UNLESS you ordered from the fixed price menu. If you order from the fixed price menu no substitutions are allowed at all. Maybe this server either misunderstood, or they've changed that policy and no longer allow any substitutions. From another post, asparagus is one item they're not allowed to give as a substitution perhaps.

Last two trips to LeCellier I became ill shortly after dinner...let's just say I was familiar with ALL the ladies rooms along World Showcase those two nights.

The last trip their beautiful Onion Soup crock was delivered in a small teacup with a strip of bread and a small sliver of cheese baked on the bread. DH was crestfallen - he LOVED their onion soup.

I had to return the starter because it was simply awful.

Sad - we were known to visit LeCellier more than once on a single trip

Not we are Tutu fans - Italy here we come!
