Very depressed - just cancelled Memorial Day trip

I am very depressed right now. I just canceled our reservation at HRH for Memorial Day weekend and we are going to drive to California instead and stay at the Lowes Santa Monica Beach Hotel for Memorial Day weekend.

Reasons:

Airfare is ridiculous...about $600 each!
We are going on a 7 day Magic cruise June 8
DH and I are going to New York for 4th of July weekend
Kids are going to visit Grandma in July
We are going to San Diego ComiCon in July

We have to draw the line somewhere and this is where I've drawn it. I am hoping we can go over the Christmas holidays instead.

I will miss the pool at the HRH. The Lowes hotel in Santa Monica is nice, but it isn't the HRH.

Somebody make me feel better. I need a hug.

We were at Loews Santa Monica last year. It was a nice change of pace.

Wow, that's a LOT of travel in a short period of time! No wonder you had to draw a line.

Don't worry, now there are less crowded times to plan for in the future. It's not off, just delayed for awhile. I know that really doesn't help when you've probably been looking forward to this for a LONG time, so here's a hug. We had to cancel a cruise three years ago due to a very complicated pregnancy, and we haven't gone yet. Maybe next year, something to consider and get excited about.

And you're going to ComiCon! I'm so jealous! I want to go meet the Battlestar Galactica cast and crew. Best show EVUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And other people, too, but those are my faves. We love Sci-Fi around here.

Sorry you had to cancel! But it sounds like you still have some fun trips planned - woo hoo!!

I, too, am about airfare prices. We have to travel to NC for a huge soccer tournament in June and we have decided to bite the bullet and actually drive it. With a family of 4, it just didn't make sense to spend nearly $2000 in airfare and then still have to rent a car when we get there. I hope "it" gets under control soon.

We've only lived here for a short time (less than a year), so I have no idea how true that may be. If it were, I think ComiCon would be held HERE.

But if you meant that MS is in a state of Sci-Fi, that all depends on where you are in the state. We done had some STEEEEErange goins on now an' again.

I know how you feel. We had to cancel our trip for August. Last month the hospital almost killed my dad so I had to purchase last minute plane tickets during the Spring Break season.....almost $4000 for 2 tickets! That ate up the plane ticket money for the vacation and some. It;s ok though. We will just go next year. I'm not about to go into debt for a vacation. Can always stay here and look at the same old statues and "pretend" I am on an exotic vacation.

indeed the SM Lowes looks luxe, had priced it out when planning trip next month & just way out of our budget

have u thought of stopping @ USH for a fix?

cheap tix online $55 w/2nd day free, etc.
