DD did her public service announcement shoot today. It is on child kidnapping and child prostitution. In the PSA, you see a little girl (about 5) playing on a swing. The next thing you see is a woman calling a name. She sounds frantic. The swing is now empty. It then cuts to a morgue where you see the body of a teenage girl. The doctor is asking the mom to id the body. He tells her that the girl appeared to have been the victim of years of sexual abuse.

DD played the dead teenage girl. They made her up so that she looked completely pale and with dark circles around her eyes. Even her lips looked white. She was covered with a sheet except for her feet, shoulders and head. The camera started at her feet and panned up to her head. They had DD lay with her eyes open staring at the ceiling. You see the hand of the medical examiner close her eyes and then pull the sheet over her head.

It was very creepy. It is for a good cause, but it was a creepy thing for a mom to see. Thank goodness it was all fake. I can't even imagine what a parent must go through doing a real body id.

The things I go through for my actress!

When she's famous and getting interviewed on 60 minutes Ed Bradley will ask if it's true that she once played a dead teen in her early career. :) She can reply "Yes, Orlando and I laugh about that all the time."

You must be proud of her for doing what must have been a difficult shoot. It is for such a good cause. As the Mother of two teen DDs, THANK YOU!

That would seriously freak me out.

WOW, I'm creeped out just THINKING about it. But God bless her for doing such an important PSA. I'm sure you're very proud of her.

Wow!! Creepy is right!! :scared:

You're better than I am...no way I could've watched :faint:

To show you how really strange I am, I'm the one who suggested that she have her eyes open to begin with. It really made her look much creepier. She did a great job. She really looked like she was dead. Her biggest challenge was staring at nothing without blinking.

That seems as creepy as eating peanut butter on salami.

That would so give me the wigglies!!! Good for her though...and you for sticking it out!!! :thumbsup2

That is creepy! I hate having my face covered so having them cover me with a sheet would have sent me over the edge.

Guess there's a good reason why I'm not an actress, heh?

Is this going to be locally syndicated on network tv?

Yikes...

I always wondered if I would let my small child (not teen) act in a spooky movie...the thought creeps me out!

I don't have kids, but I just can't imagine any mother being able to see that without cringing :scared:

I wouldn't be able to watch it- I am extremely scared of dead people on TV. The 6th Sense to me was the scariest movie ever, I couldn't watch the commercials for Twin Peaks when I was little because that dead Laura Palmer girl was so creepy. Forget any of those CSI shows- I don't know what my problem is but it just freaks me out.

Glad your DD is getting some exposure- everyone has to start somewhere! ;)

It will start out on a website called www.filmyourissue.com. It is part of a contest for filmmakers. Among other things, the winner could win an internship with Disney.

I wonder about that too. All those little kids who appear in Law and Order or CSI, or TV movies where they have to get yelled at or abused.

I always worried about that poor little girl in Sybil, who played Sybil as a child.

Most of the actor children I know are very aware of the fact that they are acting and that it is not real. The directors are very careful to make sure the kids are okay. They talk to them before the shoots and after.

As for my DD, she only does those things that she is comfortable with. It is always her decision.

I'm not sure how I would of handled that watching one of my DDs play that part. I would have nightmares for months after. :faint:
