Can someone explain to me what is a versamark pen? What exactely do you do with it?

I bought 2 of them. They are double ended with a different type of point on each end. Mine are made by EK Success. I bought them so I could emboss some of my journaling or titles. Maybe make a free hand squiggle or something here and there.

So the line you get is a darker shade of the color of the paper on which you draw it. I've used mine so much it's worn out - I trace templates for subtle accents.

On my double page spread for dinner at Shula's, I wrote Shula's over and over on the diagonal across both sheets to make my own custom background paper in the same color as the tablecloths. (It took forever! but it's a nice touch)

I use the versamark stamp pad with the African stamps I got at Animal Kingdom to make subtle accents on the pages for AK and AKL. Now, I want some stamps of various animal tracks for Wilderness lodge.

Okay just to make sure I understand, It just gives you a different shade than the color of paper you are working with? If you have the pen can you just color your stamp with it and then stamp to get that effect? Is there anything else it can be used for? Sorry for all the questions but I totally have no info about this product or it's uses-and I also don't stamp so I am naive in that area!

I think you can use the versamarker with chalks, too, but I'm not sure how exactly. I think you write or draw something and then chalk over it. Don't hold me to that. I will ask at my LSS to see who knows.

The versamark will give you a watermark effect. It is a very subtle darkening of the stamped image or what ever you wrote. It shows up best on dark cardstock. I have noticed that sometimes it takes a little bit until the ink dries and the image darkens. As mentioned above it can be used to make a custom background.

You can chalk over the wet image for a neat effect. I stamped a mini floral background on dark blue cardstock then lightly chalked pastel colors onto the wet image and it really popped. A much softer look than just plain ink.

It can also be used with embossing powder just like any other ink. I have seen titles written with the pen and then embossed. Nice alternative to a computer generated title when you want a script look. I also understand it works with Utee well because it is clear.

I only dabble in stamping and wanted to buy products that would give me the most bang for the buck. I chose a versamark pad over an embossing pad because I could emboss and more. I found it at the craft store but I am having touble finding the pen.

I got my pen at Micahel's. I've only used it once. I computer-generated a title, then traced over it with the pen, then embossed in clear glittery powder. It came out really pretty.

I never thought to use it like a watermark to custom make background paper. What a great idea!

This thread must have been good luck, I went to the grand opening of a new LSS and lo and behold there was the versamark pen in the front of the store. Now I have a new toy to play with. Have to try the inking over computer title idea.

Our Michael's doesn't carry Versamark at all and ACMoore had only the pads.

Versamark STAMP Pad so you do not have to use your pen to color the stamp - the pad is way easier!
