Vero???

We would want a 2BR, is the beach cottage their version of a Grand Villa?

Thanks for the advice. Although the price point is lower at VB, those dues make up for it.

I will keep perusing the resales....

Yes, a beach cottage would be the equivalent of a Grand Villa. Just a side not about VB's MF's......yes they are way high compared to other DVC resorts. However, overall owning at VB is WAY CHEAPER than owning any waterfront property in the state of Maryland. Compare water front ownership in most states(either timeshare or second home) and Vero Beach is a steal. You must want to own VB to stay at VB, otherwise, it is much cheaper to own onsite at WDW.

Good point. I have lots of thinking to do! We own at OKW now and my kids REALLY want AKV or Boardwalk. I think Vero is a better option as our travel plans would really fluctuate and I really hate booking at 7 months. I am one of those WAY in advance planners!

The beach cottage is the VBR version of the grand villa. I haven't seen the inside, but it is a stand-alone building with a deck front and back, so in my view it beats the grand villas.

The only way to be guaranteed a beach view is with an Inn room or else with the beach cottage. Most units don't have beach views because of the high foilage between the resort and the beach.

Please note that all of the dedicated 2-bedrooms have TERRIBLE views, generally of a parking lot with no beach view possible. The lock-off 2-bedrooms are far more likely to have a beach or foilage view, which is nicer than a parking lot view. So don't book a dedicated 2-bedroom unless you can't avoid it.

You said "I am happy pretty much anywhere with an ocean I can look at and a pool."

Keep in mind you can't actually see the ocean from all the villas. If you want to see the ocean while in your villa, you need to get either an Inn-Ocean view room, or a Beach Cottage.

In most cases you can't see the actual ocean from the Studios, 1-b/r villas, or 2-b/r villas. Many of those units don't even face the ocean, and those that do have views that can be heavily blocked by trees, or the large sand dune between the ocean and the resort.

I don't need a view from the room. I just need to be able to go outside and see the ocean. ;)
