By now you can probably tell from my posts that we're looking at adding points at either VB or HH. We need to make a decision quickly--our guide told me today that on Sunday MB goes down to $10 at HH and VB. We are still considering resales but want to make our decision in time to do a Disney-direct if we decide on less than 150 points.

We've noticed a LOT more VB resales than HH--and usually for less $$. Any thoughts on why? It might make a difference on where we buy. We've stayed at VB 3 times (total of 12 days) and HH once (2 days)--so we can't compare the two very well. HH is closer by 5 hours--enough to make a difference--and our guide told us that: it's harder to get studios and 1 BR's at HH, 2 BR's at Vero.

All suggestions/thoughts/advice PLEASE!!

I couldn't really say for sure why.....I could make a guess.

HHI is much more of a family resort area. Some people specifically purchase there because they know they want to go there in the summer. As you say, it is also closer to home for many folks. Vero is in the same general area as WDW. If you find yourself no longer wanting to travel to Florida for either WDW or Vero you'll sell. Vero is also a much more specialized vacation. With the exception of the Disney resort, most vacationers are more mature....i.e., not a lot of small children.

Just thought of another possiblity why there currently could be more Vero re-sales.....

The dues at Vero just took a pretty hefty jump. Some people may have reacted negatively and put their Vero ownership up for sale.

I don't know the numbers but HH has mostly dedicated 2BR units, not too many lock-offs. That's why the studios would be hard to get. If you must have a studio or 1BR, maybe you should ask others on this forum how difficult it is to get one of these rooms at the time you expect to be traveling.

BTW, I have seen the exact number of each type of unit on this board - it was quite a while back. You could maybe do a search.

Good luck!

VB has a few more units overall but many are Inn rooms. This makes it likely that more contracts but smaller ones were sold. HHI has almost twice as many 2 BR units. A look at the Timeshare store suggests they are about the same number listed currently but does not support my theory that VB has more smaller contracts. Looking at atimeshare.com, there are many more VB listings. You must remember that most timeshare sights don't update their website that much and The Timeshare Store seems to be the exception. It is to their advantage to list a lot of properties, that tends to get you to call. Many will leave sold or no longer listed properties on the website to make them look good. If they get you on the phone, they can make other suggestions.

Two other thoughts are that the dues are much higher at VB, highest of all DVC, and that at least some of the HH resales are going to other companies more than FL ones to include the Timeshare resale companies based in HH. I don't think it is a reflection on the resort per se. Do realize though that anytime you buy a non WDW DVC resort, you are giving up one of the main advantages of DVC, on property guarantee.

Thanks for all of your input, Dean--lots of info!! Yes, I do realize about the onsite guarantee, but we already have points at OKW (since 1993) and we're ready to venture to the ocean more often. I appreciation your opinions, though! :)
