We would like to take a break from the parks but would still like some Disney touches. Could any of you provide some feedback on either resort and what you liked/disliked about the two resorts. Thanks in advance! :)

The two resorts have different vibes.

Vero is beachfront, HH is marsh/marina front with a shuttle to the beach house which is beach front.
Vero has restaurants on property but not much else within walking distance. HH doesn't have full restaurant on property but has many choices within a 5 min walk.
There isn't much shopping or outside activities near Vero, there is quite a bit to do within a 10 min drive from HH.
You can bike pretty much anywhere you need to go on HH, not at Vero.

We love both resorts for different reasons. The CM's at both are great.

If you like bike riding, The Historic Jungle Trail in Vero is neat. There's an Environmental Learning center nearby with interesting exhibits and boat rides. If you go to Vero in the winter months, there are places to go to see manatees who flock to warmer water areas. There's a place in Fort Pierce that is very good.

I love and own at both resorts.

Haven't been to Vero, but we love HHI!!! SO much to do on the island!! We love Disney's resort there, but also just love the island! Lots of great bike riding trails, golf, tennis, boating, kayaking, restaurants all over the island. Disney has nice activities going on also plus a pool at the resort and beach house. We also really enjoy HHI's wide low wave beach. The cm's are super friendly too.
