We're doing OKW and either HHI or Vero next summer (late June/early July). We've never been to HHI or Vero so I was wondering which has more to do? We're not real outdoor adventurers (kayaking, Deep Sea fishing, etc.) and we're also not regular beachcombers either (but we do like the beach). My DD's will be 11 and 4 by then. DO you have any recommendations? TIA! :)

They offer somewhat different experiences but overall I'd give the nod to HH in terms of things to do. Not because of the resort but the area overall. Just looking at the resort, I'd say VB would get the nod. But both are nice resorts in nice places and I don't think you'll go wrong with either. HH will be much harder to get, esp for non 2 BR units. VB will have a gluttony of smaller units but should be available 7 months out for all but maybe the Beach House.

I agree with Dean...

If you are looking to stay onsite most of the time, go with Vero... It has two onsite restaurants, and a bar which has a great view of the ocean... The community surrounding VB has a few things to do, but no where near as much as HHI...

If you were planning to leaving the resort often for food or activities, then try HHI....

Both resorts offer a tremendous amount of activities for kids and adults...

Thank you :) Both places sound nice. HH would be great, because it's also on the way back home and we wouldn't have to pay for an extra hotel, but I know it's hard to get in there during the summer (especially around July 4th), Is Vero equally as hard?

Depending on what you are looking for, you may suprise yourself at HHI... Both times we have stayed there in August without a problem.. Once in a 1Br, and once in a Studio...

That being said, VB may be easier to get into....

Certainly if this is a short 1-2 day stay and HH is on the way home I would definitely stay there. FROM OKW to VB would be in the wrong direction. VERO is my favorite resort so I am biased, but I would say to anyone if the beach is to be a major part of your vacation then VB is a better choice. HH beach is wonderful, but it is detached from the main resort site and requires some mode of transportation to get there. At VB the beach is right there in front (or behind) you. Have a great vacation. :sunny:

We haven't worked out all the logistics yet, but the plan is to spend 5-7 days at WDW at OKW in a 1 bdrm and then around 4 nights in either a studio or 1 bdrm at either Vero or HH.

Well then, since some of you aren't really beach combers and some might be on any particular day, you might want to consider VB. If some of you get tired of the beach you just walk right back up to the pool or resort facilities. You don't have to make a day of it for everyone. We'll generally stake our claim, set up our umbrella and chairs, and a few times during the day move back and forth between the pool, our room, and the beach. It is real convenient. Food for thought. ;)

Depending on how much you cook when on vacation, if you stay at HHI you may want to get a 1BR just because there is not much offered onsite..

At HHI, there are a ton of restaurants offsite...

At VB, there are nearby fewer offsite choices, but the resort offices a choice of three onsite restaurants/bars and counter service by the pool...
