Vero ? Nice dinner out recommenedation

I have this referral noted in my VB tips document...I think it came from someone on the dvctalk Yahoo group.

"DO NOT MISS DINNER AT THE OCEAN GRILLE. It is about a 25 minute easy drive south of the resort. It is also average dinner prices ($16 to $25 for an entree on the average) but well worth it. It is right on the water. Actually I believe the water might run under part of the restaurant at high tide. Definitely, MAKE RESERVATIONS. I brought my 3-year old to this restaurant. It is kid-friendly."

If this is the same Ocean Grille that we frequent while in Vero, it truly is a great restaurant. The reason I am wondering if it is the same, is because 25 minutes is too long of a drive to the one I am thinking of. It is more like 10 - 15 minutes.
The food and atmosphere are great, and the service we found to be okay.
They did not let us make reservations while we were there, and once we waited almost two hours for a table. That was fine with us, as there is a nice bar right on the ocean.

This is always on our must do list!

I hope you enjoy Vero!

Did Ocean Grille on last trip and it was ok but for a nice night out with the adults there was another place the front desk clerk (very friendly and knowledgeable) recommended in that same area (we didnt go because we had two kids, were in casual clothes and the boards here recommended it ). Anybody??? It was in same area as the grille. Ocean grill is pretty noisy and peolpe were packed in there (food tended to reflect a high volume kitchen).

Sonyas at the resort is very nice. If you want to try a nice restaurant (meal for 2 about $90-100 with a drink or two)
try

It is a left out of the resort and then travel about 4 miles down A1A toward Vero center. The restaurant is in a building that has a view of the canal. Waiters were excellent both times. Not for kids.
Quiet atmosphere.

The hotel has a notebook with menus from various restaurants. We found it very helpful. We ate at the Ocean Grill and it was very good food and good service. Nice atmosphere, right on the water. Waves were crashing up to and underneath (I think) the restaurant. It's a older place, but that helps give it some charm. From the outside I didn't think it was going to be very good, but was pleasantly surprised. We also ate at Sonya's and had a very good steak and wonderful dessert. It was our anniversary and they gave us dessert for free.

Yes, the ocean is moving closer and closer to the Ocean Grill. They have a photo album that shows the Thanksgiving storm that actually wiped the restaurant out and they had to rebuild.

Ocean Grill is well-known and very popular. Where you are seated and how busy they are can make a difference in your experience but overall it's an excellent choice. I also agree that 25 minutes seems a little bit long for the drive. It is located in the heart of Vero on the ocean and in area with lots of little shops. (It is across a parking lot from the Holiday Inn.) I also think they only take reservations for large parties.

Here's a link to their site. Ocean Grill
