Vero Inn Room vs. Studio

We have two studios reserved for five adults in February. It seems that most people prefer inn rooms over studios. Why are inn rooms better, and will we be unhappy in our studio rooms? Thanks -- it's our first trip to Vero.

The only difference is that for the same number of points, you can get an ocean view room. I think that the Inn rooms all have 2 beds, while the studios have a sofabed/ queen bed. I think that the Inn rooms are a little larger. It's all a matter of personal preference.

In addition to differences in bedding choices, ocean view inn rooms are on the east side of the Inn building and have an ocean view over the dune that lies between the beach and the resort buildings. Studios generally have views of (attractive) vegatation/plantings unless they are on an upper floor/east side of the villas where they are located. Some people prefer the bedding choices and/or the view choice for the inn rooms. YMMV.

It truly is personal preference. We went to Vero for the first time this past October and booked an inn room based on recommendations from this board. However, once we got there we decided that we probably would have preferred a studio in one of the separate villa buildings. Reason being, we felt that because the inn rooms are in the main building it was a little less private and more "hotel" feeling, while the villa buildings seem a little more intimate. Also, we didn't really find that we spent much time in our room looking at the ocean anyway! Either way you'll have a blast. It's a beautiful resort and the pool is great!!!

When we visited VB we stayed in a Ocean view studio with a King-sized bed and pullout couch. The room was huge!

It was very nice getting up in the morning, grabbing a cup of coffee and looking out at the ocean. We really, really enjoyed our stay.

I have to agree that the Inn did feel more like a hotel. I think the other units would offer more privacy, but in all likelyhood you won't get an ocean view due to the dune.

Thank you all for your comments. I'm sure either way we'll enjoy ourselves.

The studios generally don't have a view, and they're laid out awkwardly so when the sleep sofa is pulled out the room looks really tiny. The Inn rooms I've stayed in have been much more spacious, have the 2 queen beds, and many have a view of the ocean. For me it's a no-brainer - unless I'm getting a Beach Cottage, I'll be in an Inn room.

The standard set up for the Inn rooms is two queen beds. The studios have a queen plus a pull out. The mini kitchen is the same for all. I'd echo the priority of an Inn room over a studio. Ask for a 3rd or fourth floor. Otherwise get the garden view and save the points.

We've never stayed in a studio, but have stayed in the OVIR twice. I like looking out the balcony and seeing the water - there's nothing better in my opinion. We also like the convenience to the Green Cabin Room;) I will say that the first time we stayed, our room was HUGE - the second time, our room was much smaller and the roofline certainly affected the "headroom" - which was a bummer for my really tall DH.

We would never stay in a VB studio again. (VB is one of our 3 home resorts). We stayed in a studio a couple of years ago and hated it. Weird shaped room -- as stated above, when sleep sofa is pulled out, you can barely walk around. View of ocean is not too likely. We stayed in the studio one night and moved to an Inn room the next day. We were much happier there with much more room and ocean view. The Inn is really interesting because many of the rooms are unique in size and shape. Rented an Inn room for my BIL and SIL once. They got a HUGE room with a king size bed and sitting area with couch, etc. I was rather upset at the time because we spent the points and they got a much better room than we did.

How true. This past December, we had an ocean view room with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa. The sofa was next to the mini-kitchen area and separate from the sleeping area. HUGE room compare to other studios I have seen.

What really made the room unique was the fact that it took up a whole "dormer" and had windows on 3 of the four walls. We had a "wall" of windows overlooking the ocean. The window over the sofa had a view of the lawn in front of the porch/Green Cabin room deck. The other window was the entrance to the deck which overlooked the pool. Great room! I'm sure the VB studios are nice, but IMHO, they can't compare with the room we had!

CarolMN, do you think this room cost extra? It would be worth requesting! Do you remember the room number? Thanks! :D

VB has a number of odd shaped, mostly corner units. Some are very large and at least a couple sleep more than 4 from what I've been told. You can always ask for them but I don't think they reserve them separately.

As far as I know, it is just one of the many "Ocean View" Inn rooms. We certainly didn't pay anything extra for it (point-wise). Don't remember the room number - may be able to look it up when I get home this evening. I'll post it if I can find it. It was on the third floor next to a stairwell that ended just outside the restaurant. Very convenient if you don't have strollers or companions that travel in wheel chairs.

I do agree with Dean - requesting specific rooms almost always ends in disappointment. We just requested N/S and upper floor. Look what we got - and it really isn't even on an upper floor!

FWIW, they have trimmed back the dune vegetation between the Inn and the ocean quite a bit. It appeared to me that all of the inn floors now have an ocean view that isn't blocked by vegetation and that it isn't necessary to have a top floor to get a good view. That wasn't the case for the villa buildings though - no trimming there that I noticed.
