Is there a FAQ for Vero Beach?

I have so many questions. Where are the activities (biking, snorkeling, boating)? how far away? is it a hassel to get there?

How far away are the rooms from the beach? We would either have a 2 bedroom or a cottage? Would we be able to see the ocean?

We live near the beach and go a lot. So even though playing on the beach is always fun, we would really want to be able to do the activities. We have 5 kids and 1 car. Not everyone would want/be able to do all the same things. I'm not sure which activities are offered on site and which ones are off property.

Good morning,

We live in Southern California, and so we visit the beaches here all the time.

The beach at Vero was really great. Disney has maintained the property impeccably of course.

Your room will be within a three to five minute walk from the water. There are waverunners, kayaks, and small "hobie cats" to rent.

We would go down to the beach early, 8am ish, and rent an umbrella and two lounge chairs which the CMs label with your name so that it is ready when you return to the beach after breakfast.

There are also turtle observtion walks, kayak trips down a local river, a small nature preserve across from the resort, swimming in the pool, "putt-putt" golf, and of course there is walking along the long, quiet, beautiful beach.

I am certain that with all the activities at the resort and in the surrounding area you will have a great time! :thumbsup2

P.S. We had a one bedroom the last time we were there and it afforded a great view of the ocean.

I love Vero Beach. Wish I was there now. :cheer2:

Me, too!
I'd be sitting in the Green Cabin Room with my DH enjoying some wonderful dessert drink :cloud9:

What is the weather like first week of March?

Keep in mind I grew up on the coast of Nova Scotia so I don't mind a bit of cold water...I used to swim when the ocean water was 15 degrees C. Not sure what that is in F (low 60's??) but know it is cold. On the otherhand DD (2 years) not a big fan of the cold water.

We were planning on a DCL vacation next year but are expecting our second child first week of March, thinking a week at the beach might be less hectic with an infant.

Well the water in Mid Feb the last 2 years was about 72, which is end of summer season ocean water for the cold blooded up in MA.

Does anyone know if they still have a character meal? I believe that it used to be Goofy and Max. Are they still part of this meal? Is it only offered on certain days and certain meals (Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner) and at which restaurant?

Also, is there any other character interaction at this resort?

Thanks for all of your help!

Yes they still have the Goofy and Max breakfast on Saturday's. I think at one time it was Wednesday and Saturdays but for sure it was inly Saturdays on our last 3 visits there over the last 2 years.

As for other character interaction, I haven't seen it in 6 visits although I have read posts here that Goofy was seen outside the normal character breakfast.

We are visiting Vero at the end of Aug. Last there about 8 years ago. Are the bikes in good shape for Mom, Dad, kids 11, 9 and 6? Anyone know of any horseback riding nearby? What is the cost for renting umbrellas? Is there any fishing on site? Should we purchase our own chairs/umbrellas/rods at Walmart or rent? I just found out there is a shuttle launch scheduled while we're there. Do you think we'll be able to see anything from VB? Sorry for all the questions but it helps to get tips from all of you. Many thanks to all for helping us plan our visit.

Hey Pats fan! The Bikes are in good shape, just ride them early in the AM. You will love Vero in August, the Ocean is beautiful unlike the chill Mass waters brrrrr. I can't remember the cost of the umbrella rental but I want to say it is something like $8 - 10 per day. As far as fishing there is a small pond across the street on property that you can catch some small large mouth bass and sunfish. There are some BIG bass in there but they don't eat the std bait (hotdogs! :rotfl2: ).

We now just buy and leave stuff at Vero now (Boogy boards umbrellas etc..), yes it is wasteful but cheaper in the longrun.

As far as the lauch... even though I haven't seen one personally I have read on the boards taht you can see the launch from the resort. I'm bummed because we leave 2 days prior to launch!

Enjoy...

Are you able to make ADRs for the casual table service place? Shutters I think? I can call in the morning but if someone knows now...

I am headed to Vero next Saturday, July 29th, for a one week stay in a two bedroom villa. :thumbsup2

I will be sure to post a review when I get back. :)

Doug, looking forward to your review. Enjoy your trip.

Mahusky...appreciate all the tips you shared. I, too, am inclined to buy noodles and umbrellas and pass them on to another family when we leave. Last year in Bermuda that's just what happened to us. A family was leaving the resort, saw us, and gave us their noodles with instructions to pass them along to another family when we departed. Are you headed to Vero in Aug or Orlando? We just returned from BWV 3 weeks ago and had a fabulous time. Looking for some R&R at Vero without the fast pace of Orlando.

Hi,

Just curious on how hard it is to book Vero or HH for spring time at the 7 month window?

Thanks!
