Everything that might be helpful. I taking three girlfriends with me. We have a studio reserved and I'm waitlisted for an Inn room. ( I thought that two beds might be better. Do you get mousekeeping in an Inn room everyday? My DD was going and couldn't get away so instead of canceling I made a mini vacation for myself. Whoo Hoo I really want to just relax but was wondering what do you do when at Vero Beach without the kiddies. Thanks:cool1:

Go have some fun at Captain Hiram's Sandbar. Dance up a storm with your friends enjoy some favorite libations then head back to the resort and relax. While walking the beach Sat, ran into some gals who did just that and said they were ready for more Sat evening. We ate dinner there Sat evening and there they were ready for an encore.:cool1:

Members staying at Vero Beach get the same service whether in an Inn room or a studio or 1Br or whatever... so if you want daily service, you have to pay extra.

I would agree about hoping for an Inn room with the four of you in the unit; you'll find it a bit more comfortable for sleeping as you get the two queens vs a queen and full-size bed.

As for what to do, spend some time just relaxing by the pool or on the beach, taking walks, exploring the area.

Thanks, Great advice. I know I should just let this vacation flow. It's so hard to put the planner aside and just enjoy relaxing, which is what I really need to do.

I think I would waitlist for either the OVIR or the GVIR because I do think the 2 beds will be better.

DO check out Capt Hiram's, we had a great time there (mostly watching the pelicans!) and the food is great. AND check out the Mel Fisher museum (and the state-run treasure ship museum too, the name escapes me right now...) Sigh! Wish I were going HOME again soon!:)

I'm going to be there on a weekend and saw that capt. hirems has afternoon entertainment. Is it a place that my 9 and 11 year old could go?

Thanks for visiting. The state run museum is the McLarty Museum. Site of the 1715 fleet Survivor's Camp. A must see for history/shipwreck buffs.

Yes Capt Hiram's is family friendly. Have never had any problems there over the years and it can be fun depending on who is playing the tunes. Another great activity to consider is to consider a wildlife cruise out of Captain Hiram's Enjoy your trip.pirate:

Check the activity list. We've done walks on the beach with a naturalist, and my DSis did the yoga that's sometimes offered. DH and I have always rented a bike and rode the Historic Jungle Trail when the weather isn't too hot. We have also done the Harborside Oceanographic Institute. People have mentioned that they enjoyed kayaking. We've taken the car to the afore mentioned McLarty museum and theres a bird sancturary with a nature trail just before that, but on the left going from Disney's VB resort.

If shopping is on the to do list......

There are some nice shops for "poking around" down in the center of Vero Beach (near the Ocean Grill). Out on State Road 60 you'll find the mall and also the outlet center.
