In Vero average highs in February are in the mid 70s and low in the mid 50s. But don't go by averages in Florida during winter months. Some days may be 10-15 degrees above normal, and others may be 10-15 degrees below normal.
The averages climb every day. By the end of March the average high is 80 and the average low is 60, and there is much less variance to the averages.
We were there at the beginning of March, '05, and it was too cold to swim or play at the beach. The pool at the DVC resort was warm enough, but not the ocean. Unfortunately, you just never know with Florida.
I live in Vero Beach.
That time of year is about the coldest weather Florida wise.
We can have beautiful sunny days in the 70s but thats also the time of year we might get our cold fronts too. Its not really a rainy month in general.
As far as the ocean here in Vero Beach in Feb. OK, theres always brave tourists from up North swimming, but in my opinon its not what one dreams of when thinking about a beach vacation.
Another factor that you maybe interested in... we are a very upscale area and where the Disney resort is at is prime ocean front real estate. That time of year all the seasonal snowbird type residents are here so theres alot of traffic.
Vero is a wonderful Disney resort and totally relaxing. The community has little crime, you don't really have to worry about bad areas. Most everyone who visits here wants to come back or at least buy a vacation home here. Its one of the most unique places in Florida. Its more of a family and retiree oriented area. So it would probably be great for your family.
Things start getting more beachy around May. June is really a good month too cause its warm but not super hot yet.
We've been there for the past two years at the time of year you are talking about -- we stay at Dodgertown and visit Disney's Vero Beach Resort OFTEN. The weather both years has been cool. One year it was cloudy and rainy most of the time. Another year the wind blew and it was very cool. We were out on the beach for about 15 minutes and our boys froze! They just wanted to go back in where it is warm. So our experience has been that it is cool and often wet. But it is very nice there. A great resort town and yes, upscale, for the most part. It is a fun place to be that time of the year, too. Lots of excitement with spring training there if you are into baseball.
