Does anyone have any info how the vero beach resort faired in the storm. Thanks

I don't know what damage has been done but I did read that it is closed till the end of October.

I live in Vero Beach. The barrier island where the resort is located REALLY was majorly damaged by Hurricane Jeanne. I was here during the storm on the mainland and it was much worse than Frances 'scarywise'. Its one of those things you have to experience, this wasn't my first 2 hurricanes either.

I wanted to go up to that area, but honestly I'm staying away for a few more days because of the debris. This storm destroyed our city in many sections.
I KNOW the subdivison that is like right next to disney had ocean front homes completely destroyed. Also, where I work on the barrier island probably is going to be torn down. I went back to my office Friday and it was completely soaked a week later.

Hotels on Vero Ocean drive are destroyed including the one Gloria Estefan owns.

Check out tcpalm.com for locally taken photos.
Honestly, I wouldn't come to Vero Beach for a few months. Give us time to clean up the mess. Alot of landmarks and restaurants are closed for at least a few months.

My husband was in Vero Beach today volunteering to help tarp and plastic homes that were damaged. He was in a neighborhood inland, close to I-95, and couldn't believe the damage. He said about two of every three homes had significant damage, and at least half of those were total losses.

He took a bunch of photo's and I put them on Snapfish

He went down with his car completely packed with plastic, tarps, wood, and supplies, and is coming back empty except for his tools and small personal cooler. He regretted having to leave, but it was getting dark and he was pretty much out of tarps, wood, and plastic.

The Red Cross was driving around the neighborhood in a truck with a loudspeaker calling out to people to come out and get a hot meal and some water. He said he's never seen a war zone, until today. Please donate to the Red Cross.

Absolutely, 888-ROOFBLU :)

Most of what he was working on wasn't roofs though. It was people who had broken windows, siding torn off exposing thermoply or plywood, etc. Things that the Blue Roof program doesn't cover. Most of the people he was helping were senior citizens who just had no way to take care of things themselves, and no one to do it for them. He was trying to mitigate further damage and exposure to the elements for them, until permanent repairs can be made.

That's great. I am sure they appreciated it. I thought I would pass it along for others.
