Husband and I are looking at renting DVC points to stay at Vero Beach the week of Labor Day, but we’re debating on making the “leap” and doing it or not. It would be for just the two of us and our daughter who will be 11 months at the time.

We have been to Vero before in May and August and loved it, but is September a good time of year to go? He only has 4 vacation days to use for the trip (rest of his vacation is already allocated to other planned trips) which is why we are trying to do Labor Day weekend so we can still get a full week in.

I’m worried about September being peak hurricane season, and I’ve also heard there can be a lot of bugs out around this time…is that true? Does it make the trip miserable? Does anyone have good trip insurance recommendations that would cover the cost of our rental if a hurricane were to hit?

You can certainly have a lot of "love bugs" in Sept but I wouldn't say it makes the trip miserable, unless of course you just plan hate the things! I'd prefer they weren't there but I wouldn't not take a vacation because of them.

Vero is a great resort.

Having a balcony means there is always a bit of a breeze. September is hot so plan to hang out at the pool. Enjoy!
