We were going to split next year's spring break between HH and WL, but today DH and I were talking and I think we would like to try VB since we have never been there before. But I have some questions......

1. Can you rent bikes?

2. Can you easily access the 5.5 mile bike trail mentioned in our DVC Guide book (or do you need to be able to carry the bikes on your car)?

3. Do they offer kids programming like they do at HH?

4. How does the kayaking work? Do you just go off on your own, or is it an organized activity with a program leader?

Thanks!

westjones,

1) Yes... Fairly cheap.. If I remember correctly, you can rent them by the hour or by the day... Last time I rented one, I only rented for one hour, but the CM said that they were so slow that I could keep it as long as I needed during the course of the day..

2) You never have to use your car to get to the bike trail.. You ride your bike through the tunnel under the A1A to cross it, then go south on the A1A for a few miles..... The goofiest part of the bike trail is actually on 512 when you have to ride on a dirt path on the side of the road...

3) Most definately... I have never been to HHI, but assume it is pretty much the same...

4) I have never done the kayaking... I assume its like the jetskiing though and you have go on a tour....

Have fun!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Though we did not actually do it, I recall that Kayaking was an organized activity offered at specific dates/times. So, no, you would not just be left to your own devices for that.

We went kayaking in 2000 on the Indian River with a guide from VB. It was great!

My DH and DS have recently become big fans of kayaking. They bought 2 kayaks last summer and would like to kayak at Vero when we visit in July. Does anyone know what the cost is to do this at VB? Thanks!
