anyone stayed at vero beach lately
We are planning on going 24th of this mouth for 4 nights
What will the weather be like and is there much to do in the area

We were just there last weekend for our first stay. I have no idea about the weather for your stay, but for us it was great beach/pool weather. The resort is extremely low-key. The beach was never real busy, but the pool area was busier on the weekend but by no means crowded. There were a few craft activities in the pool area (extra fee) and a DJ with pool games but I think that was mostly just on the weekends. Across the street is a recreation area with sports courts and stuff, but it was way too hot to use them when we were there.

The dining options were still under refurbishment when we were there and I wasn't overly thrilled with the temporary replacements so we didn't really eat anything at the resort. Expect Disney prices for dining. There is no ice cream really except the pricey Disney bars in the very small gift shop. We did breakfast and lunch in our room and ventured out for dinners. There are some decent restaurants within a 10 minute drive. But overall, the area is very very quiet. My kids were bored in the evenings. We ended up picking up movies at the red box. All the resort activities closed around 6:30 so we had very disappointed kids who wanted to play mini golf the one night after dinner and couldn't. I can't emphasize enough how low key and quiet it is, and not quite what we were expecting. I also really missed all the little Disney theming. There was very little at the resort. It was nice and well maintained, staff was nice, but I missed the little hidden themed elements.

Thanks Kelly for your reply
It's only the 2 of us this trip so don't have to worry about keeping the kids happy

Wow! That makes me nervous!! We are also visiting Vero at the end of the month and I was not expecting the mini golf and activities to close down that early :( I thought I read there was black light mini golf and activities in the evenings too. Is the campfire the only activity after dinner then?

Great seafood and steakhouse...

The Ocean Grill.

It's a bit of a drive (12 min?) but well worth it. Truly awesome. They decorate very nicely for Halloween.
Tip: get some raw horseradish to spice up the cocktail sauce.

For evening activities, there was the kids club from 5-8 that you could check them into for a fee (not sure what that was). I think they got dinner in there and did some crafts and things like that. My 10 year old is a bit on the mature side and we had just come off the Disney Dream with the amazing kids clubs for my 4 year old, so I knew they wouldn't enjoy that. There was a sing a long campfire at 8:30 but the first night it was cancelled due to some rain. There was adult trivia one night and adult Pictionary the other night but obviously we couldn't do that with the kids. Other than that, there wasn't much else going on. The place where you rent all the sports and mini golf equipment and board games closed at 6:30. I think you can rent movies in the gift shop, but we figured the selection was better at the Red Box so we just drove there to get some. There was really nothing in the area like mini golf, go karts, ice cream or other "beach" things like we are used to in my area (Jersey Shore). It is very quiet. They also ask that you do not walk on the beach at night due to the sea turtles.

Thanks for replying--I am really rethinking the Vero decision but its all set now so I guess we will make the best of it! I was really looking forward to walks on the beach at night. Do you know if the there are still restrictions in late October since the sea turtles should be done hatching by then? Could we just walk to the public beaches north or south of the resort for moonlight beach strolls or is the whole area protected and not just the beach in front of Vero?

Your visit may depend on how Vero Beach makes it through this hurricane.
