Hello,

Has anyone ever been to Vero Beach Resort? What's the weather like at the end of January?

Also, how is the resort, does it compare to the WDW standard of quality?

Also, what else is there to do in the area?

We have been to VB mid Jan. & late Jan./early Feb.
We had mostly nice weather, very few really cool days. The resort is nice, but secluded. It is a nice change of pace after being at WDW.

I have been to Vero Beach and although the accomdations are great I prefer the beaches on the west coast of Florida. Generally after we spend sometime at Disney we go the the Sarosota area. The beaches there are great! Frankly, Vero does not compare to these beaches. You will find the same great service at Vero; however, some of the magic of WDW is missing. Some of my friends prefer the east coast of Florida beaches over the west coast. I guess it is a matter of what works for you! Enjoy your vacation!

The Vero resort is beautiful and the CMs are probably the best Disney has to offer. There are lots of activities at the resort for children but it is fairly quiet for adults (not much nightlife at the resort). Vero Beach itself is a long-time winter getaway for wealthy folks so there is not a real touristy feel. It also has a growing year-round population now. The surrounding area has shopping, deep sea fishing, golf, surfing, a theater in Vero, nice restaurants. I absolutely love the feel of being on a "natural" beach right on the ocean. It is not a wide strip tourist beach but it is gorgeous. The pool area is also terrific.

It can seem like a letdown from the go-go of WDW but if you take it on its own merits it is a fabulous vacation. It is warmer at Vero than at WDW in the winter but you can never count on it being warm or cold that time of year.

I believe the Vero Beach resort is one of the finest Disney has ever built. It is secluded, the beach feels exclusively private, and it is all one can ask for in a beach resort (unless you are a college spring breaker, then it is too quiet because there are no biker bars, wet T-shirt contests or drinking contests). VERO BEACH RULES!!!

that our almost teenagers (DD-12 & DS-9) will be bored at VB when we're there in April. I know that my DH and I will love the quiet, relaxation and beach, but what is there to do for my older kids? We're going to be there for 5 days the week before Easter.

The posts about VB recently have been great...I'm all set with Skin-so-Soft spray & sunscreen to ward off the No-See-Ums.

Does anyone else on the boards have kids our age that have stayed at VB? What have you done when they get tired/bored at the resort? We were thinking of going to Cape Caniveral for a day trip. We're there too late for games at Dodgertown (my DS is very disappointed). A day trip to WDW is out because my DH refuses to go to WDW during this time of year, thats why we're going to VB.

for almost teenagers, they can play basketball in the pool, rent bikes, and if there is any wave action at the beach, the body surfing can be great! - they also have a sailboat or 2 and a waverunner to rent, but those are fairly expensive - I think the resort also arranges a kayaking adventure on the intracoastal, which would be fun good pool food, a good slide - I think there is ping pong in the activity room.

I'm not sure how often they do it but sometimes they have a DJ at the pool area and/or they run different kinds of games in the pool. 12 & 9 are probably just about perfect ages for these activities. They also get to meet the other kids.

Vero Beach is unspoiled, natural, and old Florida. We love it. There is a bike trail - - the Jungle trail - - on an old hard-packed sand road that goes along the nearby river. It is the most beautiful stretch to cycle - - little traffic, lots of wildlife, old orange groves. It takes about an hour, but you probably could make it longer. We do it each time, and each time is different and better.

Beach walking is also great - - you can walk for miles in either direction and not see a single tourist stand.

Our DD is college age but managed to act like a kid in the pool, so was not bored. She found the water slide fantastic! In fact, the "almost teenagers" were acting like young kids in the pool and certainly did not seem bored. I think it must be cool to just have fun at VB, so I wouldn't worry about boredom.
