Can anyone tell me about Vero Beach? We are thinking about spending a few days there on our way to Disney World next Spring and we don't know too much about it.

Three words....USE INSECT REPELLENT.:thumbsup2

We stay at the DVC resort in Vero Beach every couple of years-- the pic in my avatar is of the resort.

We absolutely love the resort so much so that we haven't ventured out much into the surrounding area. :)

If you mean Disney's Vero Beach resort, it's a nice place for a beach stay.

If you mean Vero Beach itself (DVB resort is on Orchid Island, not in Vero Beach) it is a small, quiet town. I imagine staying there would be peaceful, and relaxing.

There is an outlet mall in the area. We've been once, but I don't remember exactly where it was.

We are trying to decide between Vero Beach itself or the Disney Resort. So, I am looking for feedback on both. I've heard many mixed reviews about the Disney resort, but nice things about Vero beach being a very relaxed and peaceful beach town.

We stayed at Disney's Vero Beach resort at the end of a long 10-day WDW trip a few years ago (in July) and LOVED it! DH and I wanted DS and DD to see the ocean in a "perfect" setting, and it couldn't have been more wonderful. The pace is very relaxed and was a much-appreciated segue-way from the hectic and constant pace of the World. I recommend it 100%:thumbsup2

I don't have much to say for Vero Beach itself...it's a nice area, a lot of older people and not too much going on.

I would recommend the resort. :cool1:

There isnt much to do there unless you stay at the resort. I would highly recommend the resort.

DH and I grew up there and MIL still lives there.

In our opinion Vero Beach has become a crowded, unattractive, over-built mass of shopping centers and homes. The city itself is on the mainland and you have to drive several miles and over a bridge to get to the beach. It's about two hours from Disney/Orlando.

The Disney resort and the beach are lovely. I would go there for a trip. I just wouldn't want you to unknowingly book a room at a hotel in "Vero Beach" and then have to drive through traffic each day to actually get near the beach.

There's not much to do in Vero, so I would opt for the resort!!!

The resort is GREAT! It's so nice because it's Disney, yet also actually beachy (Sorry, the WDW Beach themed resorts don't compare to the real beach ).

Good luck!

If you are looking for an action packed beach vacation Vero Beach is not the place to go- even the Disney resort. We enjoy the Disney resort at Vero because we can actually relax.

I couldn't agree more. Also, I would suggest if you go there that you go after your trip to the WDW rather than before.
