What can you tell me about Vero Beach? We are thinking about giving it a try but I have found very mixed reviews. TIA!:)

I went to Disney's Vero Beach (it was a few years ago) I really did enjoy it.
We had a room that had a small kitchenette which was nice. It is a place to just relax, having said that they have lots of activities for the kids, and when I was there they had character meals I think on the weekend.

We've been there for our honeymoon and then again about 8 years ago when our oldest was a baby. They have great kids stuff. FUN pool..great beach...We love it!!

We stayed there last year after WDW and we loved it! It is definately a sleepy area and there isn't much around. When we first got there I thought how in the world was I going to keep occupied there for four days. On our last night there we were put on the waiting list to stay an extra night. It was fabulous.

The nicest castmembers I have ever met were the ones at Vero Beach.

The kids did the turtle walk, scavenger hunts, unbirthday party, archery, mini golf and more. We also liked the campfire and smores. The pool is great and the beach was so secluded.

I can't say enough nice things about Vero Beach, well, except the price. When I called to make ressies for this summer I was told since we are now a family of five we would have to rent a cottage and it would be almost $500 a night. :scared1:

When we were there a few years ago, in March, it was too cold to swim and play at the ocean. If you want to know about the Disney Vacation Club there, it is very nice.

The Vero Beach area in general is sort of quiet, but that may have changed since our visit. When we went, one of the 4 hurricanes the previous year to hit Florida went right over VB. There were buildings destroyed, most others had tarps on the roofs. Many restaurants were still closed. I would think it's built back up by now.

For ziggybaby: Vero Beach, Florida is one of the towns right on the Atlantic Ocean, near Jupiter.

Sounds like we might give it a try....thanks everyone for all the info.

Whoops one more thing...is there a certain room/studio type you like best?

We have been many times. I have DVC at Vero Beach. They have several room types depending on your family size. In the main building (the Inn) they have Inn rooms (basically regular rooms with a kithenette). They either face the island or the ocean. Get the Ocean view if you can. Its great. The other buildings have studios (4 people), 1 bedrooms (4-5 people) and 2 bedrooms (Sleeps 8). ON the beach there are 6 cottages that sleep 12. I stayed in one of these this past Thanksgiving it was great!! I am going in 2 weeks and will be in an Inn Ocean room. The 1 and 2 bedroom (and the cottage) all have full kitchens and washer and dryers. Its a great property with lots of activities.

Let me know if you have any questions.
