We're going to Vero Beach in August. We've been before but not since my boys have gotten older. One is 22 and one is 20 and one is also bringing his girlfriend along. We are also bringing my 85 year old mom. While we will spend time just hanging out I was wondering what other things the kids might be interested in doing? Like I think I've heard about canoeing? My mom also enjoys going out on boats because we used to have one when I was younger. I don't think she could do deep sea fishing though. :wave2: Is there some sort of boat excursion like the dolphin cruise thing at Hilton Head? Is there a sailing excursion? Thanks for your ideas.

My family will be there from 8/13-8/20. :wave2: I don't know the answer to your questions, I would be interested in the answers too and just wanted to say hi!!

Years ago, we used to go on a dolphin cruise on a boat called "The Lady Dolphin". The dock is about a 10 minute drive from the resort. I haven't looked into it the past few times I have stayed at VB, but you should certainly check on it if you are interested. It is very different than the dolphin cruise at HH. It is a bigger boat that holds many more people. There is a bar on board that serves drinks and snacks. It is a nice way to spend a few hours.

We rented jet skiis one day and a kayak another (with both you could stop and look straight down into the ocean reefs and see the sea turtles!! It was very cool!!). They rent them right on the beach and they are both a really great time!! We also rented boogie boards. The ocean really holds a lot of fun for all ages. As for the resort, I believe you could rent fishing poles, then there is the putt-putt golf right next to the pool and then, of course, the wonderful pool!!! The weekends usually have a D.J. playing music. We loved Vero!!

We are heading there too with our 2 sons (23), daughter (22) and sons girlfriends (24). Are there any sports bars, karaoke bars or other fun nightlife in the area?

Well, if you consider bingo fun then the answer is yes. Just kidding.

There is a restaurant called Charlie and Jake's on US 1 north of the resort. We enjoy the food and they have plenty of sports on the televisions.

Captain Hiram's is a nice place to eat.

Enjoy your trip :sunny:

The actual "City of Vero Beach" is very nice with lot's to do, also try Sebastian Inlet area a little of a drive but well worth it! Have Fun! :flower:

Thanks for the info we'll definitely give Charlie and Jakes a try, also the Sebastian inlet sounds as if it may be interesting. How far is it from the resort? Thanks

Captain Hiram's is just up the road in Sebastian and usually has live music. The restaurant is right on Indian River, so people arrive in their boats, at times. The sand bar is both inside and outside with a band, then there is the restaurant which is inside or on the porch with roll down thick plastic walls if it is raining or cold. More live music in the restaurant. Neat place. In the lobby of the hotel at Vero, they will have a large notebook with menues from the many, many restaurants in the area. It is very informative and the castmembers will give you (or print out) directions. Vero Beach and Sebastian both have some great restaurants.

While I realize that not everyone is a fan of baseball, we had a blast going to a few games at Dodgertown, it is AAA ball, cheap at $5.00 adult and $4.00 Senior Citizens and children, (plus they have discounts every Monday and Tuesday to $2.50) You have a pick of any seat in the stadium and the games are fun, the players are wonderful - we had a lot of fun, The players and my kids were on first name basis with the players after just 2 games.
