Hi everyone!
Long time Disboards member but we usually just lurk. We spent just a couple of days last week at Vero after a long weekend at WDW and before a few days in St. Augustine.
We are a family of three - our daughter is 14. We go to WDW about three times a year and are DVC members. This was our first time at Vero Beach and it completely exceeded our expectations.
The staff - so nice. Every single person who worked there went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It reminded me of how WDW used to be all the time. Not as much anymore but that's a post for another day.
The "compactness". Our teen has Asperger's and I loved how I could allow her to go to the Community Hall or to get a refill of a mug without having to worry quite as much.
The activities. I loved how there were things for her to do - pretty much all day. We loved the campfire. We loved seeing kids of all ages playing together.
The food. We only ate from the pool bar but the food was magnificent each and every time.
The incredible Atlantic Ocean. We didn't spend much time on the beach because we live all of about ten minutes from the beautiful beaches of Destin, Florida. But we did make time to watch the sunrise come up over the Atlantic Ocean - so worth it.
I just can't say enough except to say that I hope HHI is as good as we're thinking about heading up that way during our winter break (know it will be cold).
