Hi everyone!

Long time Disboards member but we usually just lurk. We spent just a couple of days last week at Vero after a long weekend at WDW and before a few days in St. Augustine.

We are a family of three - our daughter is 14. We go to WDW about three times a year and are DVC members. This was our first time at Vero Beach and it completely exceeded our expectations.

The staff - so nice. Every single person who worked there went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It reminded me of how WDW used to be all the time. Not as much anymore but that's a post for another day.

The "compactness". Our teen has Asperger's and I loved how I could allow her to go to the Community Hall or to get a refill of a mug without having to worry quite as much.

The activities. I loved how there were things for her to do - pretty much all day. We loved the campfire. We loved seeing kids of all ages playing together.

The food. We only ate from the pool bar but the food was magnificent each and every time.

The incredible Atlantic Ocean. We didn't spend much time on the beach because we live all of about ten minutes from the beautiful beaches of Destin, Florida. But we did make time to watch the sunrise come up over the Atlantic Ocean - so worth it.

I just can't say enough except to say that I hope HHI is as good as we're thinking about heading up that way during our winter break (know it will be cold).

:goodvibes Glad to hear you had a nice time. We are trying Vero this summer for 4 nights and are looking forward to it. I hear nice reviews all the time. :)Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad you had such a nice time at Vero! You are right, sunrise over the incredible Atlantic ocean is so very special! It's enough to get me out of bed early while on vacation!

:goodvibes I'll be at VB in just over a month for my first trip there! So glad you loved it.

I'm glad you enjoyed Vero Beach, I'm planning our first visit for October 2011 before our Dream cruise!

We loved it too! We would go there on every vacation if we could!

We loved it too.....ahhhhh...... Wish I could be there now. The rooms were great, and I felt like I was in a sweet little cottage. Vero is a great place to unwind after WDW or DCL before heading home.

Disneymom2one, what kind of room did you have? views at all? It sounds great! We are planning on 2 nights there after our cruise in November. We are looking forward to relaxing and finding lots for our kids to do! They will be 13 and 10. What kind of stuff did your DD enjoy besides campfire?

We were there last June and have been looking forward to coming back this June ever since. I want Vero to be my family’s annual summer kick-off spot!

How hard is Vero to get at 7 months?

What accomodations do you want? I've gotten OVIR, GVIRs at 7 months out for March and June. For our Beach Cottage stays, I've booked 11 months, but when I was there one March, there was a family that had gotten a Beach Cottage at 4 months.

Vero doesn't seem to be as hard to get as HHI during the summer months.

Thanks bobbiwoz - we are looking for something in the spring. We would want a 1 bedroom or studio (just DH and me). Maybe even late fall (NOV). We are pretty flexible with dates. We can pick vacation time whenever we want.

Glad you all had a great time. We've been telling Denise this for years. I think this time she is going to do it. :rotfl:

VB is special and you will find the same type of special cast members at HHI. I believe it is because these resorts do not rely WDW to provide the fun that they are soo helpful and fun, and have great activities programs.
