For those of you who have been to the Vero beach resort what things do you normally do "off property"? I realize the best thing to do at Vero is R E L A X! but just curious as to what is in the area. We went to a few of the shops within 5-10 minutes of the resort but thats about as far as we have gone on our trips to Vero. I hear there is a shopping Mall and Movie Theatre close by???

Also if you want to add things you like to do around the resort feel free, maybe theres something you and your family do that others may have missed. Thanks!

What I like to do is go to the Sebastian Indian Road area, They have a nice walking area, a few good restaurants, places to rent a boat, or ride in one.
In the city of Vero Beach there is theater for Broadway type shows. The Navy Seal Museum is close by. There are Malls and movie theaters. Google things to do in Vero Beach.

A few miles north of the resort is Pelican Island National Park. It's easy to miss the entrance which is on the left hand side going north. There are several trails to walk. Our favorite trail is the Centennial Trail, which is about 2 miles roundtrip. Half way through there is access to an observation deck. It is a nice, quiet area to sit and watch many birds. On the way back we came across a mother racoon and her baby. Our favorite time of the year to do this is during the winter months, when there are a lot more birds to view. There is another observation area which is close to a parking area, not a far walk. Much of the path is a boardwalk in which the planks each bear the name of a national park and the date the park was opened.

There is an art museum in Vero at Riverside Park but we still have yet to get there. We have enjoyed walking through McKee Botanical Gardens, which is a few miles south of downtown Vero off of Route 1. There is a lot of history of the area, especially of the Dodgers. The whole place reminds me of old Florida.

There is a small environmental learning center right before you go onto the Wabasso bridge if you are heading toward the resort on the right hand side. There are activities for children.

We have been to Vero many times and I still feel like we haven't really touched on all there is to do there!

We've done airboat tour, and fishing excursion. Both were fun, informative and exciting. Easy to schedule, just Google them.
