Any recommendations on room requests, things to do, places to see, shopping or restaurants or ANYTHING that you would or would NOT recommend when staying at Vero Beach?
I highly recommend the Sunday Brunch at Sonya's Restaurant on site. Another great restaurant is the Black Pearl (probably not for young children - great for adults). It is at #4445 on Rt A1A about 5 miles south of the Disney Vero Resort. The Kennedy Space Center about 90 miles north is definitely worth a day trip. There are several treasure museums in the area and the beach is nice for a walk. If you go between April and September sign up for the Turtle Watch program in the lobby. It is a fascinating program that allows you to observe 200+ pound turtles as they lay their eggs on the beach. Hope you have a great trip!
I can second the recommendation for the Black Pearl. There are actually two Black Pearl's - Riverfront and Brasserie. We went to the less formal Brasserie and had an excellent meal! They have a web site with menu's. Here it is:
All the things already mentioned are great, I've stayed in the Ocean View rooms in the inn and they were excellend. Thouroughly recommend sitting outside of the Green Room taking in the vista with a cool beer.
I need to try this Black Pearl Restaurant when I'm back in July.
Walter - Where is Bono's BBQ in town? I used to go to the original Bono's in Jacksonville in the 1970s - would like to visit one of their franchises while at VB - it would be a nice change from eating seafood every night.
We have ate at Hirams and it was great. There's a park up on A1A that was alot of fun. We would get up in the morning and walk along the beach while the sun was coming up-it was breath-taking. We also sit outsude at the bar and have dinner and watch the waves on the ocean. WE have stayed in a deluxe inn with ocean view, a one bed-room and have be going down every year since we became members. JP
