DH would like to go to the ocean. Checked with our schools and Spring Break in March 21-28(Good Friday is 3/21).

Just wondered how hard it would be to get a 2br at VB at the 7 month window? Of course I would call day by day.

I was thinking of booking SSR for the week at 11 months and try to switch at 7 months.

Told DH I would check with the "experts" on the DVC board.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

You shouldn't have any problem. You can do SSR, but I don't think it will be necessary. It'll be a little cold to get into the ocean, but the pool and waterslide will have just finished getting refurbished and re-opened in February.

Thanks, DisDaydreamer.

Personally I thought with Easter being way early in 08, it might be a little chilly.

We might just do VB right after school is out in June and stick with SSR for Spring Break.

Now your talkin... If you like the ocean then June/July or Oct/Nov. are warm enough, but still mostly outside of that peak people and hurricane period.

Well I grew up going to FL in July, usually Sanibel Island or sometimes Nags Head NC(DM didn't like the beach or the shelling there).

Have a tough time convincing DH, though showing him the point chart might work! He thinks it will be hot and he's kind of a snob, wants to hardy har har neighbors he went to the beach for Spring Break, not one of the local water parks for a night.

It's hard to predict weather but there's a good chance you'll have no problem lazing on the beach in late March. We did it last year in early-mid March. The ocean in Vero never gets icy cold since the gulf stream is right offshore.

I would be sure to call right at the 7 month mark. There aren't that many 2 bedrooms and Easter Week will be Premier season at Vero.

Love Sanibel Island. I'm a wave riding nut, but I also love that pure white soft sand, shelling, and the clear shallow water to view all the living creatures.

Here is a link to average monthly water temps. Stuart Beach is the closest beach to Vero on this chart. The Avg. monthly temp for March is 70. This is actually do-able. I have gone in when as low as 68. So if your DH wants to join the Polar Bear club and has the bills(sp) Then go for it. Whatever you all decide have a great time :beach:

Don't you remember going swimming and your lips turning blue as a kid? Our local swim club(private club at a quarry) used to open Memorial Day weekend. Well here in Ohio, that's a hit or miss affair. DD would take us and DM would tell us we were all crazy, don't come to her if you get sick.
