Has any one ate @
Capt Hirham's & Riverside Cafe
How's the the food?
Worth going to?
Good for kids? Going with 7 & 5 years olds.
Crazy Waits?
Thanks

We thought it was tourist trappy--mediocre, overpriced food. The view is great. I'd go to the bar for drinks, but wouldn't go back for dinner.

We weren't that thrilled with their food, either. We really liked SquidLips, though.

We have had very good experiences at Capt'n Hiram's every time (I think we've been there 3 times now) and will keep going every visit to Vero; it's one of our 'must do' traditions. We had also tried Squid Lips on the trip before last and made a point of going there for our last trip in January (the Melbourne location) and were really disappointed. I guess we will stick with Hiram's from now on and not bother with the other one. Love the food, love the view, and the staff has always been great!;)

We are going to Vero Beach for 3 night and are looking for advise on wheres the best places to eat, dont mind if I have to drive a bit out of the resort.

Capt'n Hiram's is okay, I always order the catch of the day and it's fresh and well prepared.

Squid Lips, went once on our first VB back in 2008 and haven't been back since.

The LobsterShanty is much better, some really interesting specials. DH still talkes about the coconut encrusted fish wih some sort of mango sauce he had 2 yrs ago. And he's not the biggest fish fan around.
Also homemade corn fritters.

There's a pizza/pasta place in VB, we went on Starbox's thumbs up. Local place you could eat outside. Don't remember the name, but I'm sure I can find it when we head down in April.

Squid Lips is good, Capt. Hirams is very good. Country Ham and Egg is a must do for breakfast. Pomodoro is good if you're in the mood for Italian. Ocean Grill is nice, as well as Mulligans right across the parking lot...

Capt Hiram's -- we thought the food was average at best, and expensive for average food. Booth we were seated at had all kinds of food on the floor from previous diners ... it was very visible so not sure why someone didn't bother to clean. We haven't been back. Band in the bar was good.

Squid Lips -- again - average food; great view. Last time we were there service was terrible. I think we hit the changing of the shifts, but still... haven't been back.

We liked Riverside Cafe -- good food, entertainment in the bar area, great sunsets.

We enjoyed Capt Hiram's very much. The salad was large and very fresh and the Fried Scallops were delicious. We will be back.
We thought Squid Lips was only so, so. I had the Crab Cake which was good, not great. It was very noisy and crowded. It is not on our must do list.
We loved the Ocean Grill. We waited a few minutes in the bar for a window table. I had the Crab au Gratin and it was outstanding. I will definitely be back.
We ate 3 times at Shutter's at VB Resort. Twice were great, once was only so so. We had dinner one night (burger and sandwich) in the Green Cabin room at VB Resort. We loved sitting overlooking the ocean and the food was very good.
Enjoy
