Vero Beach Resort

Yes, you can, we did. We got worms from bait shop we saw enroute, before going over bridge. You could call resort about renting rods or if they have them to loan like other things, I'm not sure, we were driving so took poles for the kids. I believe its a stocked pond so I think they intend for you to fish even though I would say its an easy thing to overlook on a Vero Beach stay.

Well there you go... someone who has fished in the lake. Though, next time 26555 it is an easy and fun stroll under the highway in the tunnel.

They have some glow in the dark paintings and cute Disney music to stroll by.

Yep, we walked under the road thru the tunnel, although it was morning so didn't notice the glow in the dark. It was some big intercoastal bridge we had to cross on the way to resort that we found a bait shop so grabbed some worms, anticipating some lake fishing. It's easy to go and not know about the lake. Its not as Disney maintained as the rest of the resort so be careful as you walk around the lake, there are a lot of red ant piles (at least when we were there) so it wouldn't be too hard to find yourself standing in one. We were the only ones fishing when there last October. I'm sure a lot of visitors have access to a pond back home so would prefer to spend the time at the beach.

Thanks for all the help. We're from Ohio so Mid 70's in the winter sounds great. Anyone know if they're planning on adding internet access to the rooms? Can you fish in the lake across the street?

Sorry should have posted this waaaaaaay earlier but Im in my Post WDW/Vero depression......... At the end of August they were putting another wireless access point over at Eb and Flo's for the pool deck. I bet those rooms in Unit 14 facing the pool will get access as well.

Can you request which building you would like to be in at check in?

Yes, You can definitely ask (at check-in) which buildings are available and choose from the available rooms. VB is pretty good about offering you the choices, but if they don't, ask them. Also, a good reason to get there as early as possible. We tend to arrive at around 11am. I would say 7 out 10 times they have a room ready we can accept. It's like adding a free (useful) day to your trip.

I think you're lucky to get a room early...VB is one place that we have not gotten into a room before 4, no matter how early we have gotten there. We love the resort and have a BC next June!

Wow! I would agree with disdaydreamer of the multiple visits to VB only once (last trip) my room wasn't ready.

The only time we got a room on check in was in March when we got to the resort past 10PM...very bad airline day we were over 6 hours late getting into Orlando.

Well, for June we have 2 OVIR and a BC, and someone will be getting there by noon. To make it easier on the family with the children, I do hope that one of the rooms is available then. I have even thought of renting one of the OV rooms for the Saturday night, and just telling them we're getting there the next day. We are still in the home booking time, and maybe that's what I'll do.

Any room I should request? We have a one bedroom timeshare we are exchanging into.

We were hoping to go to Vero Beach in Aug. 2008, but it is not our home resort. What do you think the chances are at booking 7 months out?

Thanks for any info!

I wonder with the ~2hr drive to the airport if more guests leave early or on time and arrive a little later then at WDW DVCs leaving more time for housekeeping to do their thing?

We did August in 2006 at 7 months. Did not have to waitlist anything, but we did do DBD to be safe.

We just last night decided to do VB in June  Can't wait.

Now I need some real help. We're big OSU fans and we'll be there during the national championship game. I need to know of a good sports bar close to the resort. Thanks and Go Bucks..............:cheer2:

Congrats on making it to the National Championship game. Should be a great game.

Beef O'Brady's Family Sports Pub is about 5 miles from the resort. We did not make it on our trip in October but I check just in case we needed to see a game. From what I read on the website they have good food choices and lots of TV. I'm guessing they have the game on. :rotfl2:

Have a great trip and good luck to OSU!

Hmmm never thought of it that way but I bet you are right!!!

We're going the first weekend in June and can not wait! Wanted to know what is the best way to get ther from MCO? I was looking on google maps, and the A1A looks like a beautiful road to drive down.

We took the 1A1 to the Kennedy Space center from Vero and back. While a nice drive there are several towns which will slow you down. We were not in a hurry so the drive was nice. We took the the I-95 to and from MCO which I'm sure is a quicker route.

Have a great trip.
