Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has stayed at the Vero Beach Resort. Our home resort is Saratoga and we have only stayed there. (SSR is getting too big!) We thought we would try a more "relaxing" vacation. Is Vero Beach Disney themed? What activities are there for children? Are there local attractions? Is it just like any other non-Disney vacation resort? Any information would be helpful!
Thanks! :cheer2:

There are lots of activities for children Disney's Vero Beach resort, including supervized activites if parents want some time alone at dinner. There are campfires/singalongs/som'ores making a few times a week for the family and they scheduled movies at night once when we were there as Hurricane Katrina was pounding Miami to the south and we had heavy rains.

The activies also include having a DJ at the pool for youngsters.

For adults, my sister attended a yoga lesson, and some in our group have had massages. We rent bicycles and go around the area, there's a Historic Jungle trail, a 5 mile ride through the area. There are nature walks on the beach with a guide.

There's a nature center not too far away.

I know others can tell you more...we haven't been there since that hurricane visit..we will be there this time next week!

Heavens.... you almost dropped off the page before I saw the post. VB is mainly beach themed with a hint of Disney (characters) and a lot of Disney charm and attention to detail. Note the underlined words below are links.

The VB resort provides daily activities for kids & adults with the best CMs of all the resorts.

They have a nice pool & Lighthouse spiral waterslide, a REALLY cool water deck area for the real young kids, a hot Jacuzzi, miniature golf, exercise room, ping pong, bike rentals, The Green Cabin Room (bar/restaurant) has 2nd floor covered deck that has a fantastic view of the ocean and is a nice place to relax with your favorite beverage. It also has live entertainment in the evenings. At night they have a campfire / s’more roast (bring the Cutter Advanced to fend off the No-see-ums). You can rent a small catamaran or jet-ski for ocean fun. Across the street they have a lake, picnic tables, nature trail, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Disney built a private tunnel under the road to access this area. And of course they have the ocean and great waves for boogy boarding. Everything from the ocean to the pool to your room is no more than 2 minutes away walking. So it is real easy to break up your day

5 minutes away is Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge and a wildlife education center. Just a few minutes further up the road is Sebastian Inlet State Park were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour north is Port Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours. 20 minutes south is McKee Botanical Garden (18 acres) with some REALLY cool vegetation and trees. 30 minutes south in Fort Piece is the Manatee Observation and Education Center.

The kids really love the DJ Bobbi is talking about.... a lot of interactive stuff with the dj and CMs.

Thank-you for the VB details and weather stats. Sounds like it would be a nice resort to visit with plenty to keep the kids occupied. Which is better, Vero Beach or Hilton Head? I don't know....can't decide!

WE have been to both Hilton Head and Vero Beach and you can't go wrong at either. It would have to depend on the time of year. Late Spring, Summer, Fall would be great for Hilton Head. Although there is not a lot to do right on property, there are things to see and do on the Island. Lots of great restaurants as well. Salty Dog Cafe to start with. Vero Beach being farther South is a better bet for early Spring, late fall. WE have been there a couple times for Thanksgiving and it can't be beat. Spring Training is also a draw for Florida in the Spring (That is until all the teams head West to Arizona like many are doing) Vero is very relaxing and still offers the kids a convenient beach scene. Capt. Hiram's tops our list of Restaurants in Vero.:cool1:

Hey Bobbi, we too will be in Vero next week. We'll be there the 20-23. See ya.

We went last April and are getting ready to go back in 17 days:banana: . We fell in love as did our DD10. We have a wonderful time there. Very relaxing. There are lots of planned activities each day. Just get a sheet at check in. Some have fees some don't. I feel you have the Disney touch but are far removed from the hustle and bustle of Disney. My DH looks forward to this trip annually. If you want relaxing then either VB or HHI are the best. :goodvibes

I have only been to HH once before (headed there soon though  ). I think both resorts are very well known for their CMs and children activities. I think maybe it could be helpful for you to know that VB waves are sizeable and HH waves are minimal. Depending on how old your children are that may make a difference to you. Also, the beach at HH is not with the resort, it is about 1.5 miles from the resort. Transportation is provided if you wish.

Have fun making a choice :beach:
