Vero Beach - Pizza from Shutters?

I'm pretty sure I've read the pizza is bad but maybe ok from the green cabin room. But it could have changed (improved)? I think either DH or DS will see pizza and want to order it. Should I steer them clear or has it improved? What about the individual kids pizza, any options? We've ordered pizza from place next door and it was good but I want to go do the sitdown dining more on this trip.

I had pizza one evening in the Green Cabin back in April. It is a flat bread style of pizza. They offered a few different choices for toppings. It is certainly not of the size and substance of what a standard pizza would be. I thought they were pretty ok. (I'm from NJ and use to really good pizza.) We ordered two along with salads and it ended up just being enough for a light dinner. One could certainly be enough for a single person. If your guys are big eaters, could be a different story.

As an aside, I loved Vero Beach.

Orchid Isle Pizza is right by the resort - they have good pizza and lots of other choices - much better than on site.

Did not try the pizza at VB, but it is cooked in wood fired brick oven. And by the way all the food at Vero (Sonya's, Shutters, GCR, & In-room) comes out of the same open kitchen in Shutters.

We just got back from a weekend aniversary trip (w/o DS4) and had a fantastic time. BTW, the Sunday brunch at Sonya's is to die for!
One couple we were talking to about it said that they do a lot of buffets and rated it a 9. They said the only way they would give it a 10 was if the food came to you on a conveyer belt.

We were there 10/13 -10/15. Did not have any issues with bugs at all (only a very FEW lovebugs flying around.

Ocean temp was not too bad at all, more comfortable than the pool at first.

Did not go in the water on Friday. On Saturday, front was coming thru and it was rough!!!! I tried renting a bodyboard and about killed my self! Both the waves and the rip currents were horrible. I should have known better from what I saw on the beach. About 10-15 feet from the water's edge, there was errosion of about a foot of sand.

Big difference from what we see in So.Fl.

Forget Shutters Pizza!!! Orchid Island is good thin crust style of pizza, they deliver or you can walk. (about 2 - 4 mins walk).
