VERO BEACH Information & Adoration Thread

@gojoe, what was surprising about my post? Is this the wrong thread to post my question in or something? I'm geniunely curious. I don't want to post in the wrong thread.
I’m not sure why they think it is not the right place to post that question. Sorry I don’t have an answer for you. Everything is at least 15 minute drive away it seems. I can’t remember the names of the places we visited but they were not heart healthy lol.
Wind and Waves is not great but it is convenient being there onsite and does have a few items that could be of interest to you.

Thank you for the feedback. I posted the question here, because I thought it was the only VB thread. Sorry, I asked in the wrong location.

As far as W&W goes, we ate there for dinner last year. That was the worst meal we've ever had in a Disney restaurant. Sadly, we're not anxious to try it again.

Edited to correct a typo.

Sorry I’m on my phone and it must have autocorrected. It is the right location is what I thought I was typing. My apologies

What did you order and what was bad about it? We are staying there soon and looks like we should be planning on making some dining alternatives 😔

I honestly didn't remember, but I found my post from last year:

Now to the food. First we were served a bread basket with rolls & cornbread. The rolls were plain rolls that were soft & warm. I enjoyed them. The cornbread was sweet. DH enjoyed those more than I did, so that worked out well for us. The butter was whipped, soft & seasoned, which is always a plus. Honestly, this was the best part of the meal.

We originally ordered two entrees to share:

Shrimp & Grits (Spiced Shrimp, Andouille Sausage Cream, Cheddar Grits, Scallions) - This was the better of the entrees (more on that later). The shrimp were large & the grits were creamy. I've had better, but it was good.

Peach-glazed Pork Tenderloin (Oak-grilled Pork with Sweet Peach Glaze, Cheddar Grits and Bacon-braised Greens) - We don't normally make substitutions, but asked for mashed potatoes with the pork. We always share & didn't want grits with both meals. In the end, it didn't matter. The pork was inedible. We did another thing we never do & returned it. The server asked why we were returning it, so she could tell the kitchen. I tried to not be too negative in my response & suggested she try to cut it & she'd know. It was like cutting & trying to chew rawhide. That was too bad, because the sides sounded good. Alas, they went back with the meat. Not wanting to chance ordering it again, we chose something different to replace it with.

Oak Grilled Ribeye (Korean BBQ Glaze & Stir fry noodles) - I'll give the kitchen credit on this one. We order our steak rare & it was cooked perfectly. The glaze gave it a good flavor. Unfortunately, it was a little tough as a cheaper cut of meat can be. There's nothing the kitchen can do about that though. *The noodles were good, but I'm not sure they were freshly made onsite.

Unfortunately, we didn't make it to dessert. The service was very slow & the food was disappointing to say the least. We were ready to go. I wish I had a more positive experience to share, but the only thing we ordered that I would even consider ordering again was the shrimp & grits.

ETA: The comment on the noodles could be confusing. They were advertised as "freshly made onsite" at the time.

I was think the theme with W&W is there specials always sound amazing and then you are let down.

Service seemed to be better at breakfast than dinner but that’s not saying much

When considering Wind & Waves, it is important to remember that Citricos it is not...

However, the food is solid, and usually well prepared. Some favorite items for us include the Oscar style fish, the pizza (rotates daily), the Fish & Chips.

Compared to other Disney restaurants, it is stronger than many, and seems to straddle a line (and price point) between the table service and signature restaurants.

Overall we prefer breakfast there to dinner, but enjoy the dinner there as well.

We have a three night stay booked later this fall, and will eat at wind and waves with frequency.

For all the refurbishments that seem to be ongoing and never-ending at VB, it is a shame to me they have not updated the furniture in the Green Cabin Room upstairs. The ambiance is perfect, and I am more than okay with with it having the slightly dated bar atmosphere. However, most of the chairs are so past their useful life... time to replace them... not sure if the dues afford that or not, but maybe they'd be willing to take up a collection.... I don't even own at Vero and I'd be willing to donate a few bucks to have more comfortable seating for the drinks classes and trivia in the bar...

I have found the spa to be reliably disappointing....

It will be a sad day in 2042 when Disney exits VB and HHI... I'm hoping we get a year or two of transition at the very least...

The menu items sounds delicious 😋

That's cool they do trivia and stuff I like a resort with a lot of activities.

We're super excited to stay here, how is the beach water? A beachfront hotel is exactly what I need right now! Do they have drink service at the beach ⛱️

I was looking forward to the spa i hope the massage is at least decent and they don't try to upset you with products like on the cruise, that part is always awkward 😅

Yes, the activities are a strong point at this resort. Also the pool, while a tad small, is right sized to the resort overall... they also have mini golf around it which is nice.

Beach water this time of year is perfect... Crisp at first but nice and warm afterwards... I have not seen drinks being delivered... but they charge for chairs and umbrellas... us being not very far from the resort have always brought our own and done more "self service"....

They are very nice, and don't try to upsell.... The massage is decent, but pricey.... not sure there is a better place to go in VB though... part of the issue with dining, spa, etc. is that VB is a small town, so you're not recruiting the same folks that want to be in a major market like Orlando...
