We were thinking about planning a trip to Vero Beach in Jan. 2010. How is the weather down there at that time? It is warm enough to enjoy the beach?

Also, if anyone has any reviews of the resort or the three bedroom beach cottage I would love to hear all about it! Thanks!!

Florida is not the tropics. That said, I have gone to Vero Beach and enjoyed it. The problem is that the weather can be very cool, it can be almost hot. I don't know where you are from, but if you are from the north, think spring or fall. Vero has weather like Miami. It is warmer than Orlando.

Don't know where "neverland" is - but if you're from the north, VB will seem tropical to you. Jan sea temp is usually around 70F.

Thanks guys! I'm from PA and January is bitter cold here! Anything above 32 will feel like heaven! I was just reading a review of the cottages on mouseplanet and they said unless VB is your home resort you can just about forget getting a reservation for the cottages...that makes me sad!

You know I usually say if you don't own at VB you won't be able to get a BC, but in Jan you might have a chance. Give it a try. If it doesn't work go for a 2 bedroom and studios.

Several years back, before I bought points at VB, I was able to get a BC over MLK weekend in January. Of course, weekend points are higher, so that made two of the nights easier to get. The weather that year was in the 80's - really beautiful. We didn't get in the ocean so I can't say about the temperature of the water. It was plenty warm enough for the pool.

Last year over New Year's, we had a BC. I was so excited - even got my husband down there (he hates to travel and goes very seldom with me). Well, wouldn't you know it - they had their first freeze in years! Daytona Beach (little bit north of VB) even had light snow. Needless to say, we were not able to enjoy the balcony of the BC. Also, the Beach Cottages do not have heat upstairs - even though there is a thermostat on the wall, it is just to tell the temperature (it's not connected to any wiring). Maintenance went to Home Depot and bought a few space heaters for us to have in the living area/kitchen; otherwise, we could not have left our first floor bedrooms! Hopefully, that was just a freak weather occurrence.

If you are looking for lots of activity like many ocean resort towns, you won't find it at Disney's VBR. The resort is about 20 minutes from the town of Vero Beach (actually closer to Sebastian), and the towns themselves are not your typical commercial beach towns like Myrtle Beach or Daytona Beach. If you are looking for a lovely, relaxing beach resort, then Disney's VBR will please you.

You will never know if you can get a BC until you try, so I say go for it! You may get lucky, and you will love it.

Oh wow! I'd hate to freeze there! My husband is concerned with the weather down there in January how it's hit or miss. The point values are the same for June..but what about those bugs I read about no see ums?

We loved our stay in the cottage. Our view wasn't the best because the bushes had started to grow up in spots but if a big storm has come by they might have washed away since then.

I loved the decks on both sides of the building and the porch swing out front. There is also lots of space up in the main room.

I hope you can get in. We were lucky to have a VB member get the ressie for us on the 11 month date.
