Just joined DVC and looking through our book on the different resorts, they all looked appealing except Vero Beach. Is there anything to do there if you don't swim? Someone said there might be golf (DH LOVES golf), but I can't find any information on it. What else is there to attract non-beach goers?

There's some reasonable golf, but not the quality and variety you get in Orlando. The pool has a nice kiddies area with small slides for them. There are a lot of nature activities and the treasure museum looks like an interesting venue.

At the end of the day, it is a beach resort where the emphasis is on a relax around the pool/beach if you don't like the beach or pool then IMHo you'd be better staying in Orlando.

There is some great shopping and eating nearby. The view is spectacular. We really didn't swim when we were there - only a couple of times for a few minutes. However, if you want to relax and listen to the waves lap the shores, this is the place to be. We also enjoyed sitting on the bench halfway down the walkway to the beach and just gazing at the stars.

It is not the best resort for the go go go vacation. It is a fabulous place to relax, enjoy the beauty and destress. I don't swim at all (as a matter of fact, I'm afraid of water). But we had the best time walking along the beach, finding shells, and just sitting on our balcony watching the surf. It was the best!

I'll second the shopping, eating and beauty. There is no golf course right at the resort but DVC has arrangements with several area courses. Ocean fishing is also a popular activity for visitors to this area. The Dodgers hold their spring training in Vero. It is a prime Florida coast vacation spot.

They have campfires with sing-along and s'mores. If you are there at the right time of year, you may try to join the turtle patrol and see the sea turtles. Mel Fisher's Treasure museum is interesting. Croquet is available as are videos to watch in your room. We also took the Indian River tour, but did not see any manatees, wrong time of year.

For me, Vero is a *lay by the pool & relax* kind of place. I may get up and take a walk on the beach, but otherwise you'll find me on my chair at the pool - until it's time to clean up for dinner somewhere.

I live in FL, and am not impressed at all with the actual beach there - but the resort is beautiful enough that I go there for the pool & atmosphere, and will pay cash to go elsewhere when I want a beach experience.

I've never ventured off to do any off-property stuff there - have no desire to leave my pool chair!

We just returned from our first visit to VB.

We didn't swim, but we sure enjoyed walking on the beach. The resort is very laid back and relaxing.

We didn't leave the resort since we were only there two nights, but we had a great time.

they do have local theater, a decent mall and outlet shopping, movie theaters, within a moderate drive. There is also a tour of a local plane building factory, maybe dolphin watching, and other activities that can be found on the website.

I do think that the main activity is the beach and the pool.
