If you are talking about fishing at the resort, I have never seen it busy with lots of people fishing, so my guess would be to wait until you get there. You can call the resort and ask. We'll be there beginning next Sunday. There are a few in our group who want to do some fishing at the resort.
So, we'll be right behind you...VB and then VWL with the whole family! My DH did look on line and there are charter fishing boats out of Sebastian, if you want deep sea fishing.
Not sure if you're talking about ocean fishing. I've seen a handful of people fishing at VB in the ocean. Mostly, I see people at Sebastian Inlet about 10 minutes north of VB and I know you can rent all the gear you could need up there. I believe Eb & Flo's rents rods, but not sure what else. BTW there is a lake on VB property and it is catch and return policy. It is across the highway. They have a private tunnel that takes you under the highway to the lake area. Also, tennis courts, bball courts, soccer, and vball field over there. Oh yeah grills and picnic tables too. Oh.. and the Jungle trail (hike/bike) which runs 8 miles up to Pelican Island.
We were at Vero last week and went fishing at the lake across the street.
Great fishing!! Caught several big fish The CMS suggested using hot
dogs. The fish ate them up Sorry I'm new to the DIS boards.
Let's try this again. The resort offers a how to fish activity, but it cost $30.
We took our own fishing poles and went when we wanted. We were the only
ones over there. The best place to fish is at the small dock on the right side
of the lake. We caught several Largemouth Bass that were over 14" long and
my son caught one Bluegill that was 10" long and 5" top to bottom.
Best time to go is in the mourning and evening, but make sure you put on bug
spray!! Also you can buy kids fishing poles at Wal-mart for $10. Only thing is
it is catch and release, so be sure to take your camera in case you catch that big trophy fish.
