My family and I are headed to Vero Beach for the first time in a few weeks. I was looking for some friendly advice as to dining location in the Vero Beach area. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Not too far from the Hotel are Captin Harms and Squid Lips both great and good for family's as well. In the opposit direction is the Ocean Grill a little more expensive but well worth the money.

We were just there for our first time in VB. :cool1:
We did venture out to Captain Hirams in Sebastian just north of the resort. The food was good and the view was great! We got a outdoor seating so you could feel the breeze and the view of the inlet and boats. No need to do ressies. Ocean Grill is one we wanted to go to but they were closed for an early dinner at 4:30pm.
The other nights were divided between Shutters and Sonya's at the resort. It made more sense for us to stay close after swimming all day. We really enjoyed the food there and it was perfect for our kids. Ask for Kristy, she was the greatest! Get a window view at Shutters too!
I recommend sitting at the Green Room Bar and having dessert there. You can get any of the desserts at the restaurants but up there instead. Sit outside and watch the sunset.
We really love this place so much I think we may head back in Sept!
Have a good time!

We really like Mulligans (across from the Ocean Grill) - especially their wings and happy hour specials! :Pinkbounc

We like the Ocean Grill. they bring out baskets and baskets of crackers and breadsticks and this great cheese spread to put on them. It keeps the kids happy.

On A1A south just past the 17th Street Causeway (about 20 minute drive south) is Charley's South Beach Grille. Fabulous salad bar and great food. Good idea to make a reservation.

1410 Highway A1A
Vero Beach, Florida 32960

Another great place is Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty---this is just over the Barber Bridge (Beachland Blvd) which is south of Disney. There is a little park right next door to the restaurant. Beautiful.

On Ocean Road after the Ocean Grill is Waldo's at the Driftwood Inn Resort. You can sit inside or outside on the deck. Great food and great view.

We also like the Ocean Grill. We have been to Mulligan's once......service was terrible so we haven't been back.

Indian River County (Vero Beach is in Indian River County as is Sebastian) puts out a free Dining Magazine every 2-3 months. You can find it at CVS or 7/11 or in some restaurants.

In the lobby to Disney Vero is a book with menus from local restaurants. The front desk will be able to give you directions.

Have fun!

We ate at Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty last year and it was horrible. We loved the Ocean Grill and also Carrabas.

I'm surprised. We have eaten there many times and we have never had a bad meal. We've always had great service too. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Maybe we should give JB's Lobster Shanty a second chance, we had read so many good reviews that we were quite surprised.

I would second this... There is nothing like sitting on the balcony of the Green Cabin Room having a lunch and drinking beer :drinking1 with a view of the ocean.. ;-)

We usually eat one or two meals at Shutters, lunch a few times at the Green Cabin Room, and then cook out of our room the rest of the time... In room meals aren't as bad as they sound... You can make something real easy and then up dinner on the table out on the balcony for more ocean views... :thumbsup2

It might have depended on the time of year you were there also. When the "snowbirds" are there (usually Jan-April), that place can be crazy. They do offer early bird specials too and we have taken advantage of that.

If you decide to go again, I'd mention it to the host or hostess that you had a bad experience the last time you were there but decided to give it another try.
Hopefully you'll get a seasoned server and they will treat you right.

We've had good luck at the Lobster Shanty. Also, the Sunday brunch at the Vero Beach Resort is awesome!

There are a few lobster shanty's in NJ. They are hit or miss so I am not suprised to read the same about the Vero one.

Thanks

We ate at Squid Lips last summer and had a great time! A band was playing Jimmy Buffet songs. It was open air. The kids loved it. Yummy grouper fingers. Good service.

We're going back to VB over the week of the 4th of July and can't wait to try some of the other places listed here.

Hope this is helpful.

Ocean Grille is GREAT!!! Don't miss this one!! Go early!

I agree!!! It is great. You can also go for lunch. If you go for dinner it's a good idea to make reservations.
