My DW and I have never been to Vero Beach. We will be at WDW during the week after Easter. Has anyone done just a day trip to check out Vero Beach? How long of a drive is it from WDW? Would we be able to use the beach, or do you have to have a reservation? Is it worth the drive down for a walk on the beach and lunch?

From the airport(MCO) it is 96 miles to VB, from WDW I would say it would take you at least 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours to get to VB from WDW.If you have the time, it would be worth the trip to check out the resort and have lunch. But in all honesty, I would add 1-2 days at th end of your WDW DVC stay, to get the full effect of the VB resort.

I love Vero Beach and I'm an owner there. But 4 hours worth of driving for lunch and a walk doesn't seem like a great use of vacation time. As much as I like Vero, I wouldn't recommend just a day trip. Overnight, probably.

It took us more than 2 hours to get from VB to BWV. I think it is a long drive for just a day trip.

If you are not staying at the resort, I don't think you will be able to use any of the resort's amenities except the restaurants. You need a room key to access the pool.

I believe the beach itself is public. There is a public access to the beach just to the north of the VB resort, but I don't think you would have a hard time accessing the beach from the resort itself.

Yes, the Florida beaches are public. You would be free to have lunch and wander the grounds/beach. The pool area is closely monitored, including requiring a room key to enter the gate and also it needs to be shown to order at the snack bar, play mini golf, etc.

It depends what you enjoy. The ride itself is not very scenic. However, once you hit Vero it is very nice. You might also want to drive down into Vero proper and look around and then come home either I-95 or the Florida Turnpike.
