Vero Beach Day Trip

Going to be in Disney next week and we are renting a car for two days.
I was thinking about taking a ride to Vero Beach to see the resort and the beach area. Is it very far from Disney? Is it worth a trip?

We took our first trip down last June for one night. It took a couple of hours and was worth it. We enjoyed seeing the countryside. My only suggestion would be to get there early in the day as the beach rental shack closed around 5:00.

Hwy US 1 South to
CR-510 East to
A1A South to
resort on left 1/4 mile.
