With extra points coming from a BCV add on.... What are the chances of a beach cottage at Vero at 7 months out? First choice would be the end of April, then Feb. vacation. When would be the easiest time? Oh yeah, and has anybody had success booking a cottage at 7 months lately?
thanks!:wave2:

Great question.

I wonder if anyone is using the rent/trade board for this kind of thing. Seems like it would be a great place to swap VB point for BCV points (or somewhere else) so each person could use the 11 month window to their advantage.

April is more difficult as it is Prime season, Feb. might be easier. I got one at 7 months out once, but that was in January, and I took the weekends, which are higher points, thus the last to go, usually. All you can do is call and see and maybe take the waitlist. Just call and be flexible, if possible.

We booked our Beach Cottage at 11 months out for next week. Out of curiosity I called at the 7 month window also, and MS said their wasn't any Beach Cottages available for the end of June.

We own at BWV and several years ago, we traded reservations at the BWV for reservations at Vero Beach in a Beach Cottage. We connected with another member here on the DIS board and it worked out great. We were able to help each other get our reservations 11 months out.

The only thing that was strange was the DVC rule of only one trade in either direction in one year. This meant that we could not actually "trade" our points as according to MS that would be two trades - one in and one out, so we just made the reservations for each other.

Good Luck. The Beach Cottages are awesome.

just got back from out trip to Vero in a beach cottage. THey're nice. I booked Sun through THursday at 11 months. I was able to Add Saturday night at about 3 months out. I used two years worth of Vero points for the trip. Borrowed all but 6 of my 2004 points. I might be interested in a trade, but I don't get any more Vero points until December 2005.

rphjr- anytime you want to trade let me know! I now have 195BCV and 100VWL -
I banked my 2003 Dec. 150 BCV points, so I'll have 300 to use by the end of 2004. Or maybe a swap for 2004/2005 of my BCV points.

So how was the Cottage? Which one did you get? Is it better than the rooms in the main building?

You can't beat the "stand alone" Beach Cottages at VB. That is the main reason we have 300 pts at VB(along with OKW pts also) to have the 11 month window, and for the Beach Cottages. We will be there next week for 6 nights.

The 3 bedrooms are downstairs, the kitchen, living area, dining area are upstairs. There aren't any bathrooms on the top floor. The ocean view is awesome!!

We stayed in building 1250, The loggerhead cottage. It was great. Had a nice ocean view and you caould hear the surf when you went to bed. THe cottage had a couple of minor problems, but nothing major. Biggest complaint is that there was no door to the bathroom area in the master bedroom. Also, with the height of the vegatation on the dunes, you couldn't see any of the beach from the cottage. Maybe the other cottages have better beach views. I'd stay there again though. I've never stayed at the inn. Also have a big group so you do 2 bedrooms mostly. Got the cottage this time. Was it worth the points.. IMHO yes
